Best SIM card at BKK airport for a 2 weeks

One last thing for my checklist..... what’s the best SIM card to grab at BKK airport? I’ll be in Pattaya for 2 weeks and need decent data for Bolt and Google Maps. Is AIS still the king of coverage, or are DTAC/True just as good these days? Thanks!

These days I just use an esim, Saily.com.

I use AIS had the same number for 20 years but also I have a true Sim that I've had five or six years I don't see any difference in either one I think they're very competitive nowadays.

@RomaBob: I’ve heard of Saily, good to know it works well in Pattaya. An eSIM would definitely be the most convenient option since I wouldn't have to hunt for a booth at the airport.

@Soi7: 20 years with the same AIS number is a great endorsement! If AIS and True are so competitive now, I’ll probably just see which booth has the shorter line at BKK. It’s good to know I can’t really go wrong with either

I think the "shorter line" plan is perfect.  I've had AIS for years with no issues.  Showed up at BKK with a buddy last week and he went for the kiosk with zero line, which happened to be AIS.  There were short lines (like 2  people) at the booths near our luggage carousel, but zero lines at the other end of the carousels.

This pic is from the True booth by the luggage belt at BKK, taken earlier this week. It says available as SIM and eSIM.

As @Soi7 said I don’t think there will be much to choose between the different carriers.

That is a brilliant tip, @eddydb! I would have probably just joined the first line I saw near the luggage carousel. Knowing there are other booths at the 'other end' with zero lines is exactly the kind of info that saves a headache after a long flight.

@Mandarin: Thanks for confirming that True offers both SIM and eSIM at those booths. It sounds like the 'shorter line' strategy is definitely the winner. I'll just keep my eyes open for whichever booth looks quietest on the day.

My flight arrives from Manila at 11.45pm so maybe will just have wait and get one next day in BKK

Any suggestions on where in the upper sukhumvit area is a good place to purchase?

Yes.  

11:45p isn’t even that late.  You’ll have no trouble having booths to choose from.
