Advice Please - Double entry tourist visa Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR.

My current Non O visa expires next week and I have just done my latest visa run to Cambodia. I have no great desire to travel back to the UK in August so I am looking to get a Double entry tourist visa at the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. I have rang them and yes they do issue them but everything I read is about Vientiane Embassy. I wonder if anyone has experience of using this consulate and any travel advice. I live in Buriram so the Mukdahan border crossing is the easiest for me. All advice appreciated.

Vientiane are issuing double entry tourist visas, Savannakhet is usually quite problematic.

Thanks for the help guys, looks like I will travel up north to Vientiane, a little longer drive for me but I think it's not worth the risk going to Savannakhet as from what I picked up at Thai visa they are generally unhelpfull. Thanks once again.
