What goes around...in Thai

Hi all. I read the phrase "what goes around, comes around" in Thai on this forum. I cannot find the topic which contained it. Anybody know? Cheers.

Are you sure about this? I don't know what กวียม means, but as both your Thai and transliterated versions end in the "M" sound, I don't think that it's a typo. If ending with a "N" sound -

 

กงเกวียน

gong gwian means cartwheel

 

กำ could be a misspelling? กรรม sounds the same and indicates things to do with fate, karma, sin etc

gam dtaam sà-nŏng

can be used as "What goes around comes around"

 

 

กรรมใดใครก่อ กรรมนั้นย่อมสนอง

gam dai krai gòr gam nán yôm sà-nŏng

yeah, it should be เกวียน that was a typo, but the second bit กำเกวียม is the same as the book, I know กำ is another way to say hold or grasp e.g. กำมือ but i'm not really sure how it fits. Perhaps if you grab a cart wheel you will go round and around? heh, not sure.

I've never heard the expression before. I believe that kam means spoke (as in the spokes of a wheel) in Thai, which would make it fit in neatly with the rest of it.

Just looked the word up. here are the listed meanings for kam;

 

V ] grasp ; hold ; clench ; grip ; seize

[ CLAS ] handful ; bunch ; wisp ; bundle
