On Wednesday Evening a team of Pattaya Immigration Officers, armed with an arrest warrant issued by the Pattaya Provincial Court arrested an English fugitive masquerading as an Irish National at the Green Park Village located in East Pattaya. An extradition request was initially sent to Interpol by Kent Police in England who have been searching for the suspect for 4 years. He is thought to have escaped to Thailand following a conviction back in 2005 for smuggling two containers of un-taxed cigarettes in the UK. In his absence he was given a 4 year jail sentence. The suspect who was carrying an Irish Passport under the name of Patrick Keeley aged 50 was in fact Royston Jones from England. In his Irish passport his nickname was stated as Roy which led Police to believe they had the right man. Mr. Jones will now be extradited to the UK assuming the Thai Police do not want to prosecute him first for entering Thailand using a fake passport.
