My Day Out at Lotus Valley GC BKK

Played here on a Friday in October 2025 

1649 Green Fee Caddy and Cart 
Paid 1249 via Golf Digg for GF and Cart and 400 on the day for Caddy fee at the course

Woke up at 0600 local time and headed off from my hotel in BKK around 0640 and head to Lotus Valley 

Took 1 hour 20 mins. It was a long trip some 70 - 80km from my hotel and I spent the last 10-20 kms really out in rice fields in butt fuck nowhere  

In and pay money and get ready and out on the course. I for some reason thought this was a 36 hole course but it is 18 and they have three practice holes. Also have a hotel which looked quite nice on site but the reality is there wasn't a lot around 

After yesterday's golfing exploits I had a session down the range after golf so was hoping for some better form 

Head out on the course and tee off around 0820 and am around in 3 hours 50 mins 

Played the first 9 holes in 1 hours 20 mins   and I was held up on the 8th and 9th by a group of 3 Koreans 

Back 9 took 2 hours and 30 mins as my new found Korean friends once again refused to let anyone through and I was made to wait on every tee. 

It is an absolute farce. If I can wait for them to get off the green. I can play my shot in chip on putt out get in the cart and get to the next tee....the very least I should be able to expect is you have hot your fucking shots when no one is in front of you. Not possible with these guys 

Now the course had a few people on it but there is no reason for this SLOW play 

Today I posted a 92 and I can put a fair bit of it down to the pace of play on the back 9

I know I shouldn't get upset but I am keeping it bottled up inside and your watching your round implode due to the constant frustration of waiting. By the 13th the red mist had descended and I am fully fucking pissed off at things. Took me a good few hours to fully calm down 

Front 9 Had a 41 which included 3 birdies  

I birdied the first two holes to be 2 under par and at this point I am having delusions of turning Pro. Don't think I have ever been two under par at any time ever. Have birdied the first hole before but to back it up on the next was a first 

Any delusions of turning Pro were ended on the tee of the 3rd when I hit the tee shot fat into the water and had a triple bogey 6 

Another birdie on the 8th was achieved but a double on the 9th saw me getting a 5 over  41 on the front nine 

Back 9 Had a 51 
Reality was I played the 9th poorly I played the 10th poorly I played the 11th poorly I played the 12th poorly all because I was getting irritated by the group in front playing so slow and making me have to wait again and again without ever showing any interest to offer me a path through 

Shouldn't lose the plot but I did 

The Highlight 
Three birdies today
First Par 4 Driver 6 Iron rolls in putt from 15 feet 
Second 5 Wood 7 Wood LW to five feet and roll in putt 
Eighth 8 Iron to about 25 feet just rolled off into fringe and I rolled a bender in 

Was delighted to actually get some Birdies today as I felt I had played well enough the past two days with no success

The Lowlight 
The 9th to 13th 
I really let the red mist descend due to constant waiting. I would wait on the tee. I would wait on hitting at the green. It was every shot and at no stage did they ever move at any speed. 2.5 hours for nine holes is a disgrace in my eyes

As for my game today

Tee Shots 6
2 off the tee found water. Few others found bunkers. So it got me in some strife today

Fairway Woods 7
Hitting Well but need better results with them 

Irons 8  
Strike them well just not enough of them today 

Wedges 7 
Hitting them well. Just didn't hit enough around here 

Chipping 6
Didn't chip well around here at all compared to how I had been. 

Putting 7
31  putts for the round.
1 X three putt holes
These greens here are fantastic and I really liked them. We are out in the boondocks so the standard is much higher than one might expect 

Bunkers 4
3  Fairway. Bunkers have quite high lips for fairway bunkers. Twice I had assessed what club I needed and had misjudged the loft required and had smashed shots out that would have been great but were fucked over by hitting the lip

3  Greenside . Out every time but over greens every time

I didn't think I had much luck in bunkers with lies and lips around here and it was less my failings and more bad luck today because every time I ended up in a bunker here I seemed to end up in bad spots in them 

Also this course has a bit of wind on this day and a few times I was going up two clubs and finding myself two foot short of a great shot but ending up in the crap instead. Even though I had a 92 I did feel today I was unlucky plus I also had sabotaged my own round by losing my temper at Koreans 

Lost Ball tally came in at 2 today

1x 3rd hole fatted the tee shot into the water 
1 X 13th  pulled left off the tee into the drink 

Great course and I highly recommend it. The quality of course for the baht you pay is fantastic value 

It is a good hike from Sukhumvit area approx 1 hour 20 mins and you could probably reach it from Pattaya in 2 hour

I feel your pain and wholeheartedly agree.  I also play as single often, and I realize that as such I have no "standing" on the course, but getting stuck behind a group that have no concept of "playing ready golf" and/or even less concept of being nice humans on the course also raises my blood pressure and unfortunately I am not mentally tough enough to not allow it to affect my game.  I also enjoyed Lotus Valley quite a bit and think it is good value.  That was a great front nine......."in a man's life the only thing more difficult than golf is staying married"...LOL
