They're getting hit hard by losses of their main tourist group. You'd almost think it's targeted.

Without getting into anything political, I feel this may be a catalyst for such actions.

The victims and perpetrators are Chinese nationals. Thailand needs to come up with a plan to act quickly, enforce the laws and maybe increase penalties to discourage such activities. Tourism is major component of their GDP, I believe it is 15%.
