Since the main Pattaya beach is out of the question for swimming, and the only good beaches are a 15 minutes drive away to Jomtien or Naklua, sometimes I resort to staying at the hotel pool during the day to relax.

What hotels offer a good experiences in that regard?

I have been to several but always had some complaints, please also share you experiences:

Amber - facility is nice and comfortable, pool itself is rather small.

Somerset - Cold pool and feels isolated with the 2-story layout, also bar staff is not attentive.

Baraquda - Probably the nicest but lacks in overall quality, the premise is dated.

Amethyst - Good pool with nice relaxing views but the pool beds are terrible.

Basically I like high quality pool furniture along with good attentive staff and good food. It may seem like Hilton but I have heard the pool is freezing cold, is this still the case?

For me, it's the Areca Lodge with the choice of 2 pools.

The back pool by the Evergreen Building has outside bar service and can order food.

Hi @Drazzz  (etc) I agree with you regarding the pool at Somerset - I stayed there when it first opened (before they had even opened the restaurant).  At the time pool was far too cold ❄️ Personally I didn't like the pool area either.  Which was a pity because everything else about the hotel apart from the pool was fine in my opinion 🤷‍♂️

Not sure when you last stayed at Baraquda, but at the end of last year the pool was even colder than the Somerset 🥶  For info I've linked my review of Baraquda below - as I mentioned, in the 'old days' the temperature of the pool at Baraquda was fine, so I'm not sure why they've changed it 🤦‍♂️ As with the Somerset, it's a pity because I liked most other things about Baraquda.

Two other places I have stayed in the last few years where I liked the pools (and where the temperature was fine) were the One Patio and the Arden.  I keep meaning to write reviews of these places - when I eventually get around to it 😴🙂

I'll second this, the bigger pool at The Areca is a good time

This year I stayed at Grande Centre Point Space. The adults only pool area on the 31st floor was great with two big heated spas and access to the sauna and jacuzzi area and the gym. Several big round beds to relax on and a fantastic view. Also a lot of eye candy with people coming up to take photos for Instagram, Tiktok etc.

On the ground floor there is a waterpark that is fun with lots of food options. Gets very busy with kids.

Siam@Siam also has two Rooftop pools with fantastic views.

Siam Bayshore has two pools. A pool access room at the main pool is great especially if you get up early and reserve a couple of lounges under the trees in front of your room. The second pool is across the road right on the beach with a view of the pier.

Thank you all for the suggestions, unfortunately Areca seems fully booked on my planned early October stay, maybe as time passes bookings will be cancelled and I can get a room.

As for Grande Centre- that is indeed nice, but not quite my taste, too "space tech" for me.

Debua has quite a nice pool and the times I have been there it really does not seem to be crowded.  Like the Amethyst close by it is on the roof, but since it is facing west so has an even better view.

I love the pools at the InterContinental (in Phra Tamnak) - I think it has a true "resort" feel to it.

When I was there in June, the water was warm.

They also have what I think they call a "serenity" pool - lots of shade and trees:

Frankly, the Hilton was so damn cold the last time I tried it, I haven't used the pool in my last 2 or 3 stays there.  Perhaps it has improved?

The Holiday Inn has a pretty decent infinity pool (photo from Internet, not mine)

I forgot Avani, because I stopped staying there when it ceased to be a Marriott.  It has a great pool area, and, IIRC, the breeze circulates very well there.

I stayed at Siam Siam few years ago, rooftop pool was cool. feels cozy worth a visit. if you're not staying there I think they allow outsiders in for a fee.

The VT6 pool is very nice but if you sit on the other side of the pool the view is much better than looking at the Central Festival mall wall

As others have said, Areca it’s a great bet in terms of pool quality. Sorry you can’t get booked on the dates you want to go.

Somebody mentioned Space, well it has a sister hotel without the space theme. It’s the Grande Center Point at Terminal 21. It’s not really my thing as it’s a bit of a mini waterpark… with too many kids around… I was with my wife and son, so it was no biggie. Not sure it would be your thing either. Here’s a few pics.

One other suggestion is Acqua on Soi Honey. It’s got a nice rooftop pool and bar area. Decent furniture to as I recall… quite upmarket.

Unfortunately it is the only pool in the immediate vicinity

Avani is the best pool in central Pattaya, especially happy hour at the swim up bar.

Intercontinental looks amazing, but it is a bit out of the way.

Penthouse hotel has one of the worst pools, but it is one of the few where you can get naked and have fun. Veranda Resort in Jomtien has private pools for some rooms, as does Copacabana. Chan Resort has a great pool if you are looking for an all-over tan.

EDGE Central condo has a great rooftop infinity pool on the 32nd floor that overhangs the building onto 2nd Road.

Had a fuck in the Baywalk pool on the roof years ago.  Fucking in water is shit but it’s a box ticked

I very much recall the indoor pool at Penthouse (Soi 13/4). The pool that they show on their website was constructed not many years before they went out of business under previous ownership. Yes, I had a girl late at night in that pool, but the large pool was indoors and accessed by going down some steep stairs. It was where guests went to have some “acquatic activities”. I have been thinking of asking for a tour - I hope it is still in use.

From a Google search of “indoor pool Penthouse hotel Pattaya, Thailand” - these are old fotos from back in the day.

I don't like rooftop pools, esp. those on a very high floor. They are windy
