LINE problem

Featured Replies

Occasionally my LINE does not notify me when a message arrives.  Or the message notification arrives very late (sometime hours late).  I am not sure what is causing the problem and what to do about it.  Any suggestions?

I've never seen that. Unless it's a glitch for you this hasn't been an issue ever.

Maybe sign onto a list. That'll get you a message a minute. At least you'll know it's working.

If it's Android you could try allowing the LINE app unrestricted battery and data usage to see if the problem was that the OS was limiting it.

While on LINE, check the settings, then Notifications.

Besure it is all set to receive.

Then do the same thing on your phone settings.

This should work.

I had the same problem.

I re-installed the app and now it works just fine.

Un-install. Reinstall. Alternatively, clear the cache.

If I do an un-install and reinstall the app, is there any chance that my current line chat history or my line member list might be impacted?  Alternatively, how do I clear the cache?

There are ways to back up your Line chats.

Go to manage apps. Click on "line" you'll have an option to clear cache or clear data. Try cache first. If that doesn't work, try data. Chat history I'm not sure about. If it's important, do some research on ways to save it. But my experience most bargirls chats don't age well. So you'll not lose much.

Very helpful information about the chat history. What about my line contacts (friends)  Is there a way to backup the line contacts.

I need to perform a factory reset on my iphone. I can backup the chat history but I'm curious about the contacts. Thanks.

You haven't  muted any of the chats by any chance?

Only chat that is muted is Makro store because they keep sending me notifications about current sale items.  Anyway, the problem continues even though I cleaned the cache so the next thing to do is to de-install and re-install the app.  I am a bit reluctant to do this for fear that I will lose chat history and more importantly my LINE members.

This is common with LINE and it is usually background management, not the app itself.

Most delays come from battery optimization or data saving settings putting LINE to sleep. Check that LINE is allowed to run in the background with no restrictions. Disable battery saver for it and allow background data and notifications explicitly. Also make sure it is not excluded by any system level app killer.

If you use WiFi that switches often or mobile data with weak signal, notifications can queue and arrive late. Turning off WiFi power saving sometimes helps.

If all other apps notify normally and LINE is the only one lagging, a reinstall fixes it for many people. Back up your chats first.

Looks like both of my Line accounts stopped working. The old one was activated with an European phone number and the last year I could only chat with my existing contacts. I got the last message there on Wednesday. My newer account was activated with a thai phone number (that I sadly didn't renew), and also there I received the last message on Wednesday this week.

On both account trying to send a message to an existing contact now fails.

Anyone having similar issues?

The newer account worked again after updating Line. But the old LIne is stuck at an iPhone 7 which doesn't seem to be supported by the latest IOS that Line requires for their recent updates. Guess I need a new burner phone...

Same position for me. My older account (European number) stopped working when I returned from Thailand last December. newer account (Thai SIM) is still working. I think many are having issues with accounts set up using non-local telephone numbers irrespective of device and Line update status.

My Line account is working, I set up it up with a Thai number that I have on an esim, I changed phones and the esim was lost on the old phone. Although Line is working on the new phone, I don't have the esim anymore so for any reason Line needs to send me a text message to verify anything my Line will be stuffed.

It's an AIS esim but I have to wait until I get to Thailand and visit an AIS shop for them to give me back access to the esim on my new phone.

You can email support, provide a photo of your passport (old and current if it’s changed) and explain that your phone has changed … they will provide you with a QR code to reinstall your eSIM.  Best managed/communicated through the MyAIS app. No need to wait until you return to Thailand.

I tried doing that but just can’t find the right screen to talk to someone.
