I'm after some recommendations of a reputable plastic surgeon in Pattaya that is familiar with the removal of lipomas. I spoke to a doctor from Surapon Surgical Clinic in South Pattaya, he didnt know what I was referring to but said he would have a look when I arrived in September. I've had it removed twice by my GP but it keeps regrowing and his suggestion was to see a plastic surgeon because it requires a larger area opened up so more of the tumor can be removed so it doesn't come back. If time allows I could possibly see someone in BKK.

There’s a bunch of little clinics who do basic procedures like that but if you’ve had medical advice to have it removed deeper then I’d be going to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital and getting it done properly, especially if it’s on a prominent place like forehead. 

As it is on the face, definitely go to better hospitals.

Bangkok Pattaya is one of the best. Just make sure they put the quote in writing and ignore their upsells. 

The good Thai hospitals are really good and they have an absurd amount of staff to over service you.

 

But their billing practices are the one let down, in my experience they always add on stuff that was not agreed. You can always get it removed, but it is pretty shady. 

They also try to upsell you very aggressively by saying "the doctor suggests you also get this", when in fact the Doctor didn't say anything, just management trying it on.

If you want equal service at half the cost go to Phyathai Sriracha hospital. VIP service also. A translator and escort and no waiting for any exam included.

Gavin Waddell coordinates medical services for expats. It's about half an hour or less by taxi.

Thanks Rick, re translator, Etc does the hospital provide that or is that a service Gavin provides? Same to assume they don’t speak English?

I have only met one doctor that couldn't speak English in my ten years of being here. You might have some admissions staff that are not English speaking, but the doctors and most nurses can communicate just fine with you

I’ve gotten a couple quotes by them over the years and they were $$$… just about on par with bumrumgrad, which is imho a little crazy. Not sure if it was just my experience tho… entirely depends on doc quoting the price.

I have had many skin cancers removed over the years (5 this year alone) and in the last 3 years have found laser removal to be effective, even with deep Squamous ones. 

Done in the Docs surgery, no prep required, bleeding cauterized by the machine and pretty low cost. Might pay to investigate options where you are. 

Hi Barmat, ive got a lipoma on my neck about 5cm in dia. I'm in Brisbane and am getting it cut out by a plastic surgeon next Wednesday. the cost to me will be approx. $1100 after rebates. it is in a day Surgical Clinic. i will be knocked out as the Dr. said with local anesthetic i may still feel a bit of pain when cutting around the back of it. Have you been quoted any prices yet. i would be interested to see how they compare to here in Brisbane.

Hi Wombat. So Medicare will cover part costs? I assumed mine would be a cosmetic procedure which may not be covered by Medicare. I was quoted 20-30k ++ at BPH. I did contact a surgery in Perth but they were unable to give an estimate without a consult, but I ran out of time as I fly out tomorrow. I think my best option is to get it looked at on my return, might be best to get it done at home if I can claim some of the expenses.

20k seems very good if it includes surgeon, anesthesia, a night stay. Even without the night stay, if all in, not too bad. IMHO. 30k and I would probably get a quote at another facility as a sanity check.

Thanks for that. Mine would be similar to yours apart from the Anesthetist (I think) dont think I'd require one due to its size, doing it under local would suffice. Obviously have to get it checked out for a true cost. Do you recall what the Medicare item number is?? I can do a search on their data base to see if I'm eligible.
