Notably absent from the meeting: any representatives of Bolt, Grab, or other ridesharing services.

This reeks of the "taxi mafia" wielding their influence in Thailand to the detriment of virtually everyone but themselves.

The taxi companies tried their best in Las Vegas to keep Uber and Lyft out, but eventually failed.  Hopefully that fate awaits the fucking taxi thieves -- I mean "companies" -- in Thailand.

Once Bolt and Grab are cut back, I'm SURE taxi drivers in Pattaya will be using their meters (as I think is required by a completely-ignored Thai law).

It's not a huge impact on me - just a pain in the ass.  I like to stay at a hotel in Phra Tamnak.  Bolt is typically 100-120 baht to get just about anywhere.  Taxi from Central Festival is anywhere from 200-350 baht, and I have to "negotiate" the damn price each time.  Hell, I'd be okay with the Bolt price going up, just to avoid the negotiation headache.
