Hello,

Since a few days my Thai Friendly app is not using the text recognition anymore, although its working in all other apps.

Is this a common problem now?

I think that you have that backwards as Thai Friendly does not have text recognition.  You have some text recognition software that no longer works on Thai Friendly.  Getting help may be hard as it's not commonly used.

You can set up text recognition in settings on your phone. When you start typing  the first letters, the system gives you some suggestions of the complete word, so you do not need to complete the word by typing.

When using some words regularly, they system automatically writes it for you.

Ok, tks, I have Samsung.

Stopped working on mine too (android). Word suggestions don't appear, automatic period when typing two spaces stopped working, automatically capitalizing first word after a period stopped working, etc.

Swipe typing/glide typing stopped working.

Also, Dark mode settings seem to work sometimes but not always.

Ok, then it's a problem with android on TF, because on iPhone it's working as it was stated by another bm.

That's not text recognition, that's autocomplete.  Test recognition is something else altogether.

Your problem is your samsung keyboard, go into your phone settings and check your keyboard settings.  You probably have not changed this so it will be a Samsung Keyboard and there should be options for word completion.  I don't know why it would not work in only one app though.

I've had my phone (not Samsung, but Android) for over a year and all the items I listed in my message above worked in Thai Friendly last week and don't work now. All of those items also work in every single app except for Thai Friendly.

Three days ago, the Thai Friendly app was updated by Google Play Store. I doubt it is coincidental.

That's exactly in my case also, I use Samsung, Android.

It's just annoying, as I use always the same phrases at TF, not even text shortcuts are working anymore.

I think I know why, TF is doing all that they can to block users from sharing contacts, you could paste your phone number using smilies in your profile like 

Now they have blocked this and in doing so have also blocked other options

Strangly. But surely. Since of today the auto-fill and text recognition on android is working again. Makes it a lot easier. 

I read that developers need to enable it via api in their apps. It's not a universal thing in all apps. Almost all do. But TF may have broken in an update or forgot or something. 

Sent a message to Thai friendly and they said uninstall and reinstall app, worked for me and all back to normal on all my Samsung devices.

Dam guess they want to keep it all in the app probably just have to meet in public now to see if they look like there photo

No, it must have been something else as it's working now.  See the message before yours.

Yes, a few people have hit this lately. It is usually not your phone. It is the app side breaking after an update or an API change. If text recognition still works in other apps, that points to Thai Friendly itself.

Things that sometimes fix it are clearing the app cache, logging out and back in, or reinstalling. If that does not help, it usually means they need to push a fix server side. In the past this kind of issue came and went without users changing anything.
