I decided to spend two nights in Chiang Mai at the end of my trip in Thailand last month since I've never been up there and mongers and non-mongers alike have always reported it to be totally worthwhile for a visit.  I won't bore you with the touristy details but I did spend my daytime hours visiting a lot of temples which I loved and evening meals were at the night markets.

Since I had only two nights there, I narrowed my mongering options to the boxing ring beer bar complex, Sayuri soapy massage, Pink X, Icha Icha and Dolphin Spa.  After checking into my hotel, I decided that it was too far a walk from the beer bars to pull a lady from there and my room had only two single beds which didn't exactly optimize for a take home session.  I did walk through the beer bar complex anyway just for my curiosity and there were quite a lot of ladies but most were older and bigger.  There were a few gems there for sure much like in the beer bars of Pattaya but I already decided against pulling from there.  As expected, there were older ex-pats throughout these bars as well.

So the first night I went to Dolphin Spa since I wanted more nuru after experience two awesome sessions in Bangkok.  Dolphin rate for nuru for an hour was 2500 B and their lineup was only about 5-6 ladies.  I chose a slim one with reddish hair and many tattoos.  It was an okay session but the nuru was nowhere near the quality of the Bangkok ones.  It's like her nuru vocabulary was quite limited but the main act afterwards was quite decent.

The next night I went to Icha Icha and again their nuru rate for an hour was 2500 B.  The lineup was a bit better than at Dolphin and there were maybe about 10 women.  I chose one that was smiling and her nuru technique was better than the girl at Dolphin but still below that of those I had in Bangkok.  It was otherwise an okay session to cap off my Thailand stay.

So overall I would say that although the mongering options in Chiang Mai are nowhere near the quantity as Pattaya and Bangkok, I did appreciate my visit there with much less crowds and traffic.  It was definitely a more chill atmosphere and I would say that there was enough action to satisfy me since I need only one session per day at my age.

I wouldn't necessarily return to Chiang Mai since I already saw the touristy things I wanted to see there but this stay did inspire me to perhaps visit other smaller locations in Thailand like Udon Thani and Hua Hin in the future where it's more relaxed, less crazy compared to Pattaya and Bangkok but still have enough mongering action for my needs.

Thanks for posting.  I’m off to Chaing Mai (first time) with the Mrs next week for 5 days then Hua Hin (many times) for 8 days. Probably won’t do too many temples but the countryside is good I’ve heard.

That is intg as I was in Dolphin multiple times in December and am sure it was 2100b for the std nuru/bbbj treatment.  Guess they raise the price in low season when there less people - 555.

I was the only customer there and at Icha Icha as well

Believe you are based in Pattaya/Jomtien.

AirAsia has direct flights Utapao-Chiang Mai. Quick and easy.

Thx yes I know that, but when I go it will be by train from Pattaya. I was just curious to hear how the OP did it.

Back in December I took Lion Air Utapao-CM direct.  Do not think there was Air Asia direct flight than.  While the lion air one was convenient have to say it was more expensive than taking car to BKK and flying from there.  

I'm a regular at Icha Icha, to a point that I no longer visit other nuru/soapie venues. It's just too convenient for me as it's close to the hotel in which I always stay on Loi Khro road. Only once I was about to have a bad experience due to a super shy newbie but she quickly realized my disappointment and suggested me to return to the lobby so I could pick another, more experienced one. I was very impressed with how cool they were about the whole thing, so it became my favorite venue in CM.

I would definitely visit Icha Icha again if I'm ever in Chiang Mai again but would also be interested in visiting Sayura too.  I might try Pink X too since it's close to Loi Kroh but they are at a higher price point for some reason.

Chang mai is probably the most peaceful place in Thailand in terms of lifestyle.

Strong disagree from me on this one. Traffic is bad, too touristy, air unbreathable for a few months a year, flooding issues other months, are just a few of the reasons. I have a good friend there who I had been visiting yearly, but this year I gave it a pass. I do think it’s a great place to visit and tell any friends going to Thailand for the first time to try and check it out (if it’s not burning season). The surrounding countryside outside the city is beautiful.

Boom Boom is always included , never had a real dud there , a little bit mechanical and i hate the part that they clean up the  air mattress when you get moved to the bed but a good experience always. Last week had Pimay a little older but with a couple of bolt ons .

Long time ago I went with a mate from the Netherlands and my regular LLT from Bangkok to Chaing Mai. 

We we out at night when she decided she was tired and went back to the hotel alone advising me "No Butterfly!".

Well guess what, one of the first bars we passed was called The Butterfly Bar so of course we had to go in, it's probably long gone now.

Girls in there were all over us but no opertunity to play as they didn't have on premises rooms unfortunately. 😢

In a future trip back to Thailand, I would be interested in comparing my Chiang Mai experience with some towns I haven't visited before -- Hua Hin and Udon Thani.  Any feedback from you guys who have been?

I really enjoy visiting Chiang Mai. I usually stay just outside of the Nimman area. Quiet, charming, fairly local. It's a nice escape for a week or two but I could never live there for a bunch of the "cons" already listed in this thread, particularly the crazy burning season. Spent a week there in late March once and it was pretty miserable.

For mongering, Hua Hin is shite, but Udon Thani is really pretty good.

I am planning my first visit to CM during Loy Krathong. Looking at hotels now which many are already fully booked, or the rates are two, three times the normal high season price. I guess I better book my BKK to CM flight and car rental ahead of time as well.
