According to Mr. Boonmee, 34, both he and the injured man work as passenger van drivers. The altercation reportedly stemmed from an argument over a dispute about a 300-baht commission that the injured man allegedly refused to share.

On the night of the incident, the group had been drinking beer near the usual van stop, which eventually led to the physical confrontation.
