How bad is the hotel? 

Interested as it has a good location, and smoking friendly. But got freaked out when reception mentioned they have carpet in rooms. Cant imagine the stains....

Is it a hotel that passed it's prime a decade ago?  900 baht a night, so that cheap, but for $10-20 more, can get much better rooms.

Also.... It isn't on Agoda, etc... so seems they just barebone.

Anyone stay recently and can give their opinion?

This is right across the Soi (next to the Lek Hotel)

I'm heavy smoker. So that my #1 concern. 

If they charge a reasonable amount for the room, it won't bother me to stay at LEK. Plus I prefer pools on ground floor. 

For example, Flipper Lodge, it wasn't bad, but I found much better hotels for the same price. If it was 1,000-1,200 a night, would return to Flipper Lodge. But they ain't worth more than that
