Cheap ways Airport to Pattaya at nighttime?

Hi,

 

my plane will land about 20:00 in Bangkok, is there any other (low-price) way to get to Pattaya except by Taxi?

Direct to Patts, Taxi is about it late at night. ฿1,000 Mr. T Taxi is your best bet. If you really want to save a few baht, you can taxi it to Ekkamai in BKK and then take the bus. Cost is about ฿400 give or take for the taxi, and ฿126 for the bus.

Doesn't this bus drop you off at the Big C on Sukhumvit in Pattaya? It's a pain to get around from there with luggage. I took a bus from Ban Chang that dropped me off there. There were no cabs so I had to take a Motorbike taxi to my hotel. Thank god I didn't have luggage.

No, it drops you off at the bus station on Nua near Third. There are always baht busses there and ฿20 gets you to your hotel. I've taken the last bus out of Ekkamai a couple times and there were always taxis there, even that late at night.

Actually there are two windows at Ekkamai to buy tickets to Patts now. One is the slow bus, one is the Express. Looking at the ticketing section, the one on the left facing you is the slow bus. The one on the right that is facing your left is the Express.

It gets tricky now! Man I hate the slow bus. One time that bus took 5 hours.

I am looking into a way to work out a taxi share for guys just coming into town. On arranged pickups, if you would like to share the cost of the ride, I can have my drivers try to find a second person for the ride. I can't guarantee this yet at this moment in time. And would not even propose to promise that I can. Its a wait and see kind of scenario.

 

However, if you do find another person at the airport to share the ride with, we will be happy to do so for you.

 

On another token and more on topic. The bell buses are a decent way to go. The visa run vans, they have as well, but will generally wait till they have 5 or 6 people before departing. Those van trips cost 400Baht each from what I have seen. The only downside is the wait can sometimes be up to 2 hours before they have a full load, and then the time dropping off each person at their hotel after the drive.

 

It might be kind of stupid to some people that I am even referring these other means of transport than just myself. Truth be told, I know not everyone wants to pay even 1100Baht for a ride into Patts, and for those people, they still have every right to the info, and I am not going to fault them for it. So bell buses, passenger vans, are also valid inexpensive forms of transport into Pattaya. As well you do have the private transport drivers available for hire

the best way to get a cheap taxi is got to arrivals and grab one that has just droppd someone off - fixed price/off meter. last year i got into town for 250 bht instead of 500 bht.

Where at the airport do you get the minivans to Ekkamai? What other destinations do the minivans go to? Maybe Chonburi?

Why go to Ekamai to get a bus to Pattaya when you can get the free shuttle bus to the Airport Transport Centre then get a bus to Pattaya for 106 Baht.

Yeah, that's about right. Last bus leaves Ekkamai around midnight. The OP wouldn't realistically be getting through C&I and baggage claim until around 9PM or so.

Thanks, but for 1000 B I think it's not worth the complications to establish a contact by email -

easy enough to find such an offer right on the airport ... lol :-)

 

I guess my best bet is to watch out for someone I can share a taxi with right on the airport as it seems.... :-/

i always arrive around midnight and so taxi is about my only option...i avoid the que line and just find a freelancer who probably just dropped someone off and is trolling for a passenger back to pattaya...ive paid about 1200 baht with tolls included...then give him 1500 w/tip. However, after reading about t-taxi for 1000baht, may give him a try!

 

Or, one of my regular girls says she wants to meet me and has "girlfriend with car" (both live in Pattaya)...but im guessin in the end this will end up costing me more like 3000 baht...for the two of em...LOL.
