What are they going to do, send her to prison where she will at least get fed and given shelter?

Rehab and a job would be much better than prison. Thailand has a huge drug problem, sadly there are no easy answers.

Thai authorities solution is to move problem somewhere else. But not just Thai authorities, many countries do that also.

100% agree with you.

Helping addicts is also about 10 times cheaper than enforcement but it rarely attracts popular votes.

On my morning bike rides it's not unusual to see a glue sniffer with their nose in a bag. Often times sitting next to a building on the busy sois like 3rd Rd and 2nd Rd.

Not an easy problem to solve when those with an addiction don't want help.

That is not at all what the stats show from countries that have relaxed enforcement and decriminalized or legalized these substances.

Less people take it up and more people are willing to get help. Overall, just a lot less misery all around. Pointing to the hardcore few that will never take help and saying their circumstances dictate why it is difficult is illogical.

It is like saying seatbelts will not save everyone so why bother trying.

I would hazard a guess the people of Vancouver would have a different opinion on the subject.

A sobering article on why decriminalisation may not be a good solution.

How decriminalisation made Vancouver the fentanyl capital of the world
The city is gripped in an opioid crisis worse than America’s. Locals say overly liberal drug laws have sparked a catastrophe.
