Well, I finally got my VPN (Torguard) working, But its backward.

When I connect to Torguard I cannot connect to any apps, or if I disconnect from Torguard the apps work fine but I get frequent wanings that my computer is not protected!

I'm at a loss... any suggestions?

Perhaps I should just foget Torguard and rely on the existing protections in Windows.

Does Windows have a built in VPN? I wouldn't think it does and there are sites in Thailand and China you can't access without one.

Male sure you're using the latest version of Torguard for your OS, uninstall and reinstall  or send in a support ticket.

VPN apps are pretty much self working other than deciding on what endpoint you want to use. Obviously yours isn't doing so well.

I use PIA on Windows, Mac OS, iOS and Android and other than installing it there nothing to do. It can't be too different than Torguard and all the others.

You did log in on the device right?

As far as I caan tell, I've logged in correctly.

One thought I had.. When I hung the modem back on the wall, I re-inserted the various cables. 

One of the sockets was labelled "WAN". I didn't pay too much attention to which cable goes where, but I wonder if I plugged in the cables ass-backward?  Is that possible, Is that likely to cause the backward configuration?

Specifically the "WAN" port should be connected to which cable?

 

I probably shouldn't comment on this thread as I am what most would consider a "tech dinosaur" but I am pretty sure Windows 11 does have some form of VPN and with not much effort using "private window" you can skirt the fact your in a Thailand and most of it's restrictions?

Again forgive me but can you plug into the wrong ports with a cable connection? I thought they were all different (spent some time trying to plug in where it doesn't fit)555!

AS for the rest of @ricktoronto post, totally baffled me, which is not difficult. Sorry not much help but hope you solve the problem, good luck.

I forgot to add when I subscribed to Nord VPN and tried to use it here I was bombarded with unwanted advertising even interrupting mid viewing/posting and then dropping site if I rejected the unwanted info.

Thanks for your input guys. 

I live in a seniors building here in Toronto and with my computer down I was at a loss on how to fix it.  I was pretty sure it was a configuration issue.

So, I'm having a morning coffee with a local resident and mentioned my computer woes, and she immediatly referred me to another resident who came over this afternoon and in about 10 mins she fixed it all.   I dunno what she did, but  I'm back connected!   Geeze 2 days no internet...

Update on the ports, etc.

The computer guru who fixed everything, suggested I take a picture of the cables.   Excellent idea

WAN port is only connected to the cable or DSL modem or left unused on a router that's extending a network.
