Right or wrong when crossing the street it is best to take one lane and a time and ensure the motorists see you and are stopping, as you cross.

To assume everyone can see you can be a big mistake and can cost you your or your loved ones your life.

Speed humps need to be put in on all of these routes where there are proper zebra crossings. As well as every 200 meters apart on Pratamnak 5 to eject the idiots going 80 down the hill

They were probably using a pedestrian crossing and foolishly expected everyone to stop. 

For that reason I'm always nervous when stopping my car at a crossing, hazards on essential!

Always leery of motorcycles when crossing Pattaya roads.  Cars usually drive slow, stop and yield to pedestrians, but not motorcycles.  Motorcycles often weave between cars and speed, and often appear unexpectedly. Motorcycles often drive in the wrong direction on one way roads, so I always look in both directions when crossing.

 

Per The Pattaya News article, one vehicle had stopped for the pedestrian and the stopped vehicle driver heard the speeding motorcycle from behind.

 

In defense of the motorcycle driver, he probably could not see the pedestrians because the vehicle was blocking his line of sight.  But also, if the stopped vehicle driver heard the speeding motorcycle from behind, the pedestrians should also have been able to hear the speeding motorcycle and yielded.  Even if the pedestrians felt they were right to cross, you never want to be dead right.
