April Suites Christmas/New Year

Recently made a short quick visit to Pattaya over the Christmas/New Year period.

I used to use Agoda for my hotel bookings but have used Booking.com and Wotif recently.

I paid just under Aud $400 (after currency conversion fee from bank) for 6 nights for a standard room through Wotif. I could cancel upto a few days before without penalty. A pretty good deal I thought.

I was arriving late at night so tried to send email advising time. Unable to find email address for April Suites but sent through August Suites (sister property).

On arrival checkin was smooth, paying by c/card staff walked through to August Suites to pay as April don’t have c/card facilities.

The short cut through to August Suites is brilliant to get out onto Central Pattaya rd and short walk to Baht bus on Soi Buakhao. ( A number of Bolt drivers had difficulty finding the April Suites on their map)

There is supposed to be a 2000 baht security deposit. I was not asked to pay this (was prepared).

Room was on 3rd floor. First impressions, room was really clean. Bed was firm but ok. Air con was fine, sufficient hangers in wardrobe, safe big enough for my mac. Kettle, but no tea coffee, big fridge. Tiny balcony, big enough to smoke on, or in my case clothes rack to dry clothes.

Bathroom clean, though would have liked better lighting. No rain shower, but water was hot and strong. Housekeeping efficient and done without fuss or delay each day.

Pool, gym and sauna are rooftop. Only used Pool, which is small, but ok for a quick cooling dip. Not for lap swimming

Would I stay again. Yes for the right price. I am not a huge Soi 6 fan but I have the option of pretty much being able to travel in any direction by baht bus.

Bringing back a lady was no problem. Only once were they asked for their id, which was probable because I didn’t bring her into hotel myself or meet her at reception, not sure, but no real hassle.

(excuse the messy room in photos)

I should add, WI-Fi was ok. My phone liked it ok, but someimes had to sign in again. Laptop it was so slow, but if i hot spotted off my phone it was ok.

I usually have a sim so I use my own. But with such a short trip decided to make use of whats available. I don' play games or stream much. So may not be up to what you want

April Suites is an old favorite of mine. It's a solid option if you're looking for a quiet hotel in a decent location. I always like the small rooftop pool.

The hotel does look quite modern and the price is economical. May I ask who are the majority of the customers at the hotel? Are there tour groups?

@28templarknight . The hotel is pretty quite. No sign of tour groups and no buses (road is too narrow anyway). Considering it was high season, I only saw one or two other guests, who just looked like other single guys. No noise from other rooms, and my room was right next to the lift and I didn't even hear that. New Years eve the staff held a party in the laneway next to the hotel, which they invited me to join in.

My only wish, would be a little bigger room and bigger balcony. I was in a superior room (cheapest) the deluxe rooms a little bigger and seem to have bigger balconies too

Thanks! I have booked this hotel for my upcoming trip and it seems to have met all my needs: price, noise, balcony, nice clean room, and a shower.

Checked in today glad to see the hotel is still in good condition ,last time stayed here 12 years ago.

As mentioned the security deposit is 2000b ( yes had to pay it).

Overall good impression and good value at 22 eur/800 baht a night.

I’ve stayed here and August Suites for several times and never seen any Indian groups, I’d say 95% of quests are European/american sex tourists lol

The only time the hotel checked an id was when I wasn't already downstairs to meet the lady. Every other time walked straight in with the lady and up to room

Summer last year a group of Indians were accommodated in August Suites, and none of them spoke English - they spoke to the receptionist through an agent over the phone.

3-4 days later I met them again at the reception loudly expressing their dissatisfaction, because manager wanting to ask them to leave.

Stayed here in early May. Good hotel for the price. Walk through August Suites makes it very accessible.

Pros: Nice rooftop pool, accessible via August Suites, fairly clean, priced well.

Cons: a bit outdated, loud aircon. The side street leading to the main entrance is a bit of a dump. Lots of overfilled bins etc. I avoided that street as much as possible and used the August Suites entrance.
