Are there any snakes left in Pattaya City? I have seen a few but all were at least a decade ago. I remember seeing a golden tree snake on second road, close to where Terminal 21 is now but it was not so developed there back then. I saw a snake in one of the Second Road bars where Siam Siam hotel is now. Pretty sure it was a ratsnake and saw a ratsnake on Soi 7 about 10 years ago. Now, I am aware that on Pratumnak Hill and in Jomtien there are a lot of Malyian Pit Vipers and Pythons but not heard of any in Pattaya City. My feeling, East Pattaya, a lot of snakes, including MPV's, cobra's and Kings... between Sukhumvit and Third RD, some snakes but not many. From 3rd to Beach Road, snakes are gone... Opinion?

I think I saw one for photos at the Runway night market.  There was also a big owl

If I’m remembering right there was a sighting around the reservoir a good while ago

The only snake I've see is the guy in front of The Avenue Mall. You can get your picture taken with it.

Of course their are snakes in disguise. Almost invisible until they strike. The Bargirlconda!

She will squeeze your wallet to death.

There is always the "Creep and Crawl Snake Cafe" on Pattaya 2nd Road if you ever feel the urge to pet one.

I have not come across any snakes in my visits to Thailand, the only thing I have seen near Soi Pothole one night years ago, is a giant centipede, which I believe its bite is quite painful.

"In several years, I’ve only seen them a couple of times, and the worst was once at a waterfall in Koh Phangan. We went swimming, and when we came back from the water, there were two small snakes among the clothes. We moved them with a stick, and later that day, we showed a photo to the receptionist, who told us they were super venomous.

Since that day, if possible, I always leave my clothes in my backpack when I go into the water."

In three decades visiting Pattaya, only times I’ve sighted snakes was in East Pattaya while having a scoot around on the bike.

A mate was bitten (on his ankle) by a Malayan viper outside his condo in Naklua, security guard took a machete to the snake.
Luckily he was administered ant-venom quite quickly, I think Banglamung hospital, but he was out of the game for a few days.

Thailand has an abundance of venomous snakes.

While waiting at traffic lights on Pattaya Klang Road a green snake fell from a tree landing about a metre away from me.  Scared me half to death and I took off to get away.  Out of interest I turned back to check it out but the poor thing had been run over.  Im usually not superstitious but couldn't help taking it as a bad omen or warning to make amends...

Its this one. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysopelea_paradisi

A harmless tree snake. Produces mild venom but can't deliver it in a bite due to too small teeth. Nothing to worry about at all.

Well, at least that keeps the rat and mice population somewhat in check.

Here's my snake story: We were renting a three bedroom villa in Jomtien last year. One night our dog went ballistic, barking at the ceiling. (he doesn't bark unless he needs to). We could hear something moving slowly across the sub ceiling. We had one access point inside a guest bathroom but I didn't have a flash light and there was no way I was poking my head up there without one. Fyi, I am terrified of snakes. I called my agent, she called the owner, who sent a few guys over the next morning. They crawled up into ceiling, found nothing, said maybe it was a squirrel or cat? Yeah right.

Two days later same deal, dog barking in the middle of the night, noise from above. Called agent again. This time the owner sends the guys back but they have a skinny kid who they send up into the ceiling with a big light. He's up there no more than 30 seconds before he comes scrambling back down yelling in rapid Thai. His buddies try to send him back up with a broom. He ain't going back up. They leave and never come back. Agent tells me the owner says it was a cat..... Luckily my lease was up the next month and we had already leased a new house. I called and asked if we could move in early, thankfully the answer was yes. Packed up and got out the next day. Told you, I'm terrified of the damn things.

Fast forward two months. Our old agent sends my wife the photo of an eight foot python that they pulled out of that damn house in the middle of the night. I'll get the photo off her phone later and post it. Evidently there are snakes everywhere in Pattaya, they love ceilings and crawl spaces.

Some of these could be released or escaped pets/captive snakes. People get a pair and they breed. People release the babies. Pretty common issue in the us anyway.

I was going for a shite in a service station rest room a while ago on the way to Rayong, and just I sat down felt something move in the toilet bowl. Had a peek down and there was a python curled up in the water at the bottom.

Lucky for him it wasn’t an emergency and there was another stall open, as that would certainly have ruined his day
