Hey guys, have an issue with Line app. Cannot add a friend via Line ID although can add through Line QR code. The ID to be added is good as asked a friend to see if it works, & it does. Tried deleted a few people to add but still doesn't work. Anyone run into this?

Version 14.20.1 ... seems to be the latest version.

Do you get an error when adding the ID? 

There is a little qwirk about Line, if you add someone and do not send them a message, they will not show up under your chats until you send one.  The contact is there, will only show up under your profile for the PC version, or under "Home" for the phone version. 

A way around this when you add someone, immediately click to send her a chat.  You don't have to send anything, this will now let it show up under chats.

Thanks for the reply. It just says User Not Found or something like that. I did a quick Google search, & some Reddit users have been reporting the same thing which indicates it may be a bug on Line's end. 

The version of Line that I use is rather featureless in that it doesn't have a feed, Line Pay, & some other features. There's another version of Line that has those features which may be region specific (doesn't matter if it's on Android or iOS) which was able to add the Line ID. Asking for the Line QR code seems to be the only way around this at the moment, so I know it's not because I'm blocked though might have a possible restriction.

Edit: read your first post more accurate now, they can search your ID? my ID they cannot... annoying,...

There is another post started a few days ago about this very issue. I'm not having any issues, several people are,  found documentation from Line acknowledging the problem, and they're looking into a fix.

Kind of. Yesterday tried to Add via Line ID using a cut n paste from a chat and consistently got the "User not found" error.

But, when I typed in the ID it was good and taken. My take-away is the ID entry field has some protection on entries, kind of 'are you a robot' thing.

I am on the same boat. I am unable to add new friends on Line app, with that stupid 'user not found' message. However, I was able to add friends on the desktop version till yesterday. But today, even the desktop version has the same error. Frustrating as hell as I am about to land on 17th

I have the same issue. It's a bug with the platform. As others have said, you can ask for their QR code and that works.

‘Allow others to add my by ID’ can be toggled on/off in your privacy settings; perhaps your’s is set for off. 
 

I find the TGs quite adept with QR codes;  they’ve certainly taught me more about LINE than I’ve learned on my own.

That's good news. I'm trying to be patient rather than risk losing my account with reinstalls and such. Can you link the documentation?

I'm not having any issues, those I read on the post that are having issues found the documentation. If I run across it, I will add it to this thread.
