Loads of threads for Farang and touristy food/restaurants but I cant find one about Thai food specifically.

Can anyone recommend good Thai food in Pattaya - price immaterial (its all mostly cheap anyway) and preferably not touristy/Farangy ;).

These are the few I think are good - but would love to find more.

Mae Pong Sri - Good soups/Tum Yum

Michelin bib - Mae Pong Sri – Chon Buri - a MICHELIN Guide Restaurant

Neon Boat Noodles - Great Noodles

KHAO SOI CHIANG MAI KRU AOR
 - Best Koh Soi in Pattaya imo

Kai Yok Krok - Very good chicken

Ben House Restaurant - Sea Shrimp Pad Thai (place has bad reviews, I am quite surprised, maybe I need to find better but its the best pad Thai I ate there so far)

Roti stall - bloody great (there from 11pm? 12?)

Villa Market Food hall (The Avenue) apologies if the name is not quite correct. Anyhow it's in "The Avenue" near Villa market, the food hall has 12+ food kitchens offering mainly Thai but other options around average 70 baht and the food is great used by locals and falang, never had a bad meal.

Nice, I'm always up for checking out well reputed chicken joints. 😋 Wish it was within short walking distance of where I'll be staying but I'm definitely going to visit this Kai Yok Krok restaurant.

Any more non-seafood places I should check out?

Here are a few I really like... and reasonable.

- Across from Buakhao Market, delicious noodle soups eat regularly

- Hideaway Guesthouse Bar & Grill, Soi 15 & Buakhao eat regularly

- Kiss Food & Drinks, 2nd Road & Soi 13 eat regularly

- Chalee's Food & Drink, Beach Rd  between Mikes Mall & Soi 12... easy menu, great sunset views, go every evening :)

- Street vendors in front of Pattaya Avenue Soi 14 & 2nd Rd... lots of delicious finger foods

- I've had some really delicious meals at the Amythest hotel restaurant, Soi 15 & Buakhao

- Beer Garden, just inside Walking Street, right side... big menu

I'm likely wrong but I see all street food as mum or pops homecooked like it would have been served at a home anyway there's a new opening next to the castle in a couple of weeks that might be worth checking out. ZAAP it's called

Yes street food in likelyhood some of the best - I just dont know where/which specific stall are good, most of the night markets I have found quite touristy.

I don't wish to be mean but there are lot of farang/touristy restaurants there... Trying to avoid those. And value isnt relevant - just good food, could be cheap could be expensive.

Not easy to do with street food unless it is a regular "spot" but I do go to my regular "favourites Thai outlets" now with food boxes for "take home" and freeze them. Maybe you do lose a little in the "just cooked taste" but so far cannot replicate the taste of these meals after spending quite a bit on seasonings/flavourings and spending far too much time cooking which probably has cost more than the average 70 baht price.

Any street vendor in a popular area.

I guess that's what I meant by homecooked. A meat ball is a meat ball; it's how individuals cook that meat balls that makes the difference and pointing anyone in any direction without knowing there taste is; well😋

Tuk’s bar & restaurant on Soi baukao 15 is a favourite of mine. Easy place to relax in too

Yep, Hideaway and Kiss would have to be the most uncomfortable places to eat due to being constantly pestered by street hawkers every 2 minutes, quality at Kiss is sub par at best as well.

Great thread!  Will check out a few of these mentioned during my Christmas trip. Typically for Thai foods I've just been using the Central Festival Food Court, but will adventure out some more on this trip.

I do not think it has been mentioned above, but it would appear that the everlasting Tin Cup has been restored to its former glory days and in fact I think now it may be better than it ever has been,  For me this is best Thai food on Bhukow/in area.   It a bit like a soup nazi type of place in that you need to know the protocol - what you want, getting your own cold water in the tin cup, sitting at tables with others if place is on fuller side, and I would imagine newbies may find it a bit intimidating as english a bit scarce.  However, the 2 things I go to places like this for -  pork pad krapow and maybe even late pork noodle soup it is very good quality and value with great sauce selection(even though they do not have the one sauce that was on every table years ago).  Guess the chicken they have always served there popular with folks who like that too.

Unlike the past couple of yrs the hours of this place seem to be pretty much 24/7 or at least I have not seen it closed yet.  See an intg cast of characters in there in the early morning hours so almost worth it for people watching.  Looks to me like their business quite good and prices really not changed much relative to other things.

That is good news. Are you saying that it's back to it's original location?

I am not sure that the location has changed in the 8-9 years I have known about place - north of soi pothole entrance to Bhukow on same side of bhukow maybe 100'?  However, think there had been a year or 2 when it was closed completely and even the last couple yrs the hours were quite sporadic and menu very limited.

The musclebound dude that had been there the past couple yrs seems to be gone and it is mostly a female show running place.  Menu is certainly bigger than it was even 8 years ago.  Pretty sure it still much same family members running it.

Think I had mentioned in another Thai food thread about pet peeve in ordering pad krapow moo with eggs and eggs been cooked for quite awhile and usually harder than I like.  Cooked with order here and seem to get style I like every time.  The still missing that special pad krapow sauce that used to be on table in the white enamel containers.  However they do have a pretty selection of sauces on every table now.

Know the place across from Amethyst(next to coffee shop) and treetwon had been mentioned as good places.  For less money tin cup blows those places away.

Are you not describing the noodle joint that was two doors up from the Tin Cup?

I would not know if it was 2 doors different than last year let alone 8-9 years ago - 555.  They have added Suki noodle dishes to the menu.  However, it the same tin cups/water protocol from what it was like as far back as I have been coming here.

So this Tin Cup has definitely reopened?

There was always two shops, one a Khao Man Gai shop (Tin Cup) and a noodle shop two doors up from Tin Cup.

This one has noodles as well as much more and is only one with the tin cups/big ice and water jug that I assumed led to name of the place - same cooking station setup as well.  Same chicken dish that always have seen people with as well.  In past couple of yrs think I only got soup there or I thought it was right there and as per posts above hours were quite ltd and sporadic.  I do have a full love inn fucking appmt in Pattaya tomorrow and if I think about it will walk by and take a pic, but am very sure this is the real thing - or as real as any tin cup in that vicinity has been in the past 8 years.

The Tin Cup did not reopen this is the noodle place a couple of doors away. I wandered in there by mistake thinking it was a Tin Cup and ordered something and they told me it was noodles only. Now that was probably a year ago so things may have changed and they may have added to their menu but I don't think it's the original owners and it's definitely not the original Tin Cup
