Traveling from the Netherlands? Don't!

Anyone travelling from Holland? My advice? Go ICE.

Our airport, Schiphol - in the south of Amsterdam - has been described as the most expensive airport in Europe:

(English - http://badnewsfromthenetherlands.blogspot....rport-most.html )

But deals can be had - right now you can get round trip returns during the next few months from Air Berlin UNDER 470 euros, all in! (AB uses EVA Airways as their partner to Thailand.) Some are direct flights!

If you use the high-speed ICE trains there are deals to go to Dusseldorf airport direct from Amsterdam for 20 euros, 40 round-trip. This can be a savings of several hundreds off of the Schiphol's prices on direct flights.

This week though, the Dutch government decided to let airlines wave the environment tax, lowering the cost of tickets somewhat at schiphol, but many other airport fees are still in place. Theres a a call for them to lower the rates but the airport is still unmoved.

For now, ICE and Dusseldorf - all the way...
