Pattaya hotel recommendation in the 2k-3k range?

Hi guys,

I usually stay at the Marriott when in Pattaya but for my next trip in 2 weeks I'm a little bit more on a budget.

I'm looking for an hotel in the 2000-3000 THB range (marriott starts at 3000 so it'd better be around 2000 actually) in a quiet area preferably (dont want to hear the

baht bus honking 24/7)

Another important point is a reliable internet connection; reliable enough to use some voice over ip software. The best would be a dedicated DSL line in the room and not

a shared internet connection for the whole hotel.

Of course if I have to pay extra for that it's no problem. Last time I was actually a bit disappointed with the internet access at the Marriot. It costs 650 THB/day and it

was often very slow. My IP Phone even turned out to be impossible to use because of the limited bandwidth.

Finally it should not be too far from the action but it doesnt have to be very close neither. I dont mind walking or taking a baht bus.

All recommendations welcome.

cheers.

650baht a day? for internet? That is the biggest rip-off I have ever heard of. Seriously, that is completely insane.

What... service... may I do you? Hmmm? You know I demand payment.--- I brought payment. Look! BAM!! An undead monkey! Top that!

dtac is 3 baht/minute to most western countries. Get a normal nice hotel room < 1K and call with your normal thai phone.

The reason for the IP phone is not cheap rates for international calls. I use it to receive calls and it's actually connected to the corporate network through vpn connection.

This is a standard price for internet access in big chains of hotels...if it was reliable I wouldnt mind paying.

I just stay few ago on the Discovery beach, actually it's 2500 with ABF right on the recepetion without receservation. Really nice view and large room, 1 step to infamous soi 6, also nice pool and good service

Totally agree !

More and more hotels offer now a free in-room internet connection.
