I'm not any kind of medical professional, but my understanding was that doxycycline doesn't offer any protection (rather than merely being "less effective") against viruses such as HIV and herpes and that it only helps prevent bacterial STIs.

It's possible what they mean is that if you have one STD you can be more susceptible for others. e.g. if you have open sores, it's easier to get HIV.

i suspect that's a thing, one of the pages i glanced at recommended it if you'd previously been infected. i'd imagine open sores would leave you uh... open... to all kinds of infections.

But I don't think there is a product that says doxyprep.

read something to the effect that it's basically doing doxycycline as a precaution. not sure it's an "official" thing. i think it's also not really a great idea unless you have a good reason to expect take antibiotics.

Agreed. What would be a good reason 🤔

aside from the obvious (an actual demonstrable infection, like when i tripped on a cobblestone, skinned my knee, and it eventually started oozing pus).... immune-compromised, just had surgery, etc. if i got infections easily it might not be diagnosed as immune compromised but i'd assume my immune system wasn't doing a great job if it was happening to me.

apparently having some sort of STI (and maybe even one that's been and done, it wasn't clear to me from what little i've read on it )

I am biohacking in a way that is very likely bad for me including immunosuppressive drugs and risky behaviors. But I also drive on the teconic so that’s probably more risky than any STD. Anyway, my body my choice my life.

I know I've seen worse roads on tiktok in india and china. But this road in ouray was the worst I've driven. There are no guard rails and it twists and often black ice and rocks fall from above. At least it's paved.

yeah nah no way i'm doing shit like that.

Rama 2 is fun coz it's a dice roll. they're bulding an elevated motorway.  will something fall on me/my car today? so far for me personally, only some liquid that hurt the finish.but motorists have died. many construction workers have died. utter shit show.

regarding pep/prep antibiotics i've decided to take 'em. i have 10 more days on catheter. the idea of a 5th UTI is... too much. my biome is already fucked from the first 4 and 2 surgeries. hopefully i can use my cock again some day i'm optimistic LOL

PrEP and PEP refer to dosing regimens in the absence of symptoms or confirmed infection.  Presumably this is what is meant by ‘process’.  These are generally not approved dosing regimens and, as such, constitute off-label use.

I've been looking into DoxyPEP but the research results are a bit disappointing unfortunately. While it does seem to be effective against chlamydia and syphilis, it's not nearly as effective against gonorrhea. I'm not too worried about chlamydia (as it hardly gives me any symptoms) or syphilis (because it seems pretty uncommon). It's exactly gonorrhea that I'm worried about the most.

They also tested a meningococcal B vaccine for its effectiveness against gonorrhea, and unfortunately the results are just as disappointing.

Note that this study was done on men who have sex with men.
