Flash drive does not read mkv files i have

Hi. I have in my laptop some (many) series episodes in MKV format. My laptop itself  read them all, no problem. I want a friend to watch them at her own place, on her tv (she does not have a laptop), so i was copying the files to a flash drive. But the flash drive (and i have tried two) does not read those files. Neither on the tv, nor on the laptop, through the usb port.

Following  a friend tip, i format the flashdrive to ntfs...but it did not work. Because most of the files have more than 1GB, i can not use those site for conversion MKV to MP4 (these, the flash drive can read).

Any solution?

Ok a few things to highlight here...

1. The USB should be formatted to exFAT nowadays to be read by most modern devices and still be able to read larger files:

2. You need to check that the tv is modern enough to do this, and support MKV format. You may need to process the MKV to another format like MP4 using convertor software like this one:

3. If your pc or tv is old and the USB flash drive is also old or small then you can use Rufus to format it to FAT32 which should be read by most devices but the file size limit is 4 GB

the bitrate of the mkv file is probably too high for the flashdrive. install an mkv to mp4 converter on your laptop and transcode them.

Just use VLC to convert to .mp4.

Download handbrake and convert to H264.

I use flash drives all the time to watch Movies & TV's and the occasional one will not play, so I convert using handbrake.
