Krabi and Koh Samui 2025

5 of us (seasoned mongerers) are looking to stay for 3 nights at Krabi and 3 nights at Lamai on Koh Samui.

Any hotel recommendations close to bars / beach / nightlife areas would be welcome.

When I was in Lamai a couple months ago I stayed at AM Samui. Location was near the heart of the nightlife but the beds were the hardest I've slept on in a long time. Someone recommended The Hive which is nearby, so I checked it out before leaving town. I was shown a clean room with a medium soft mattress. That's really all I care about, so I'll be staying there nexttime. I would be very surprised if they charge a joiner fee, but I didn't ask. It's nice, but not fancy.

I'm also planning for Krabi next year, so I'll be watching the thread

I'm interested also as I plan to head to Krabi maybe just after Chritstmastime.   Need to chill for a bit, and destress.

Any Krabi information re: hotels is super appreciated.

I stayed at Panan Krabi Resort in Ao Nang. It was good, no complaints.

I met a cracking little Thai lady there, worked selling insurance. I had no issues bringing her to the hotel 4 of the 6 nights I was there.

Is the Krabi nightlife passable for the average monger?!

Soi RCA might be enough, it depends how fussy you are 😂.

Theres also a nightclub with Freelancers in it. Its about half way along the beach road.

Soi RCA is about 100 yards from that Panan Krabi hotel i mention above.

The above is for Ai Nang, I've not been to Krabi city.

Howdy,

Have spent the last 5 yrs down this way to get away from the worsening smoke coming to Pattaya during the "Norths" smoke season....

Up until this year (Feb2025) both Smaui and Ao Nang have been quiet, really good room rates.

I was shocked this year.... Ao Nang was rammed and the hotel prices were insane.... The 3 listed below were all around the 1000-1500 mark previous years, this time 5000 +

We only stayed 4 days as my Cousin had arranged to meet us there...

Give Samui a miss altogether as my spies advised me it was similar to Ao Nang....

We have stayed at all these places and if price is no issue I highly recommend them.

Ao Nang

hotels : Depending on budget
Blue Sotel Smart (main rd)
Blue Sotel
Aon Hill Resort

Koh Samui

Lamai
Weekender Resort (right on beach)
Thongtakin Resort (right on beach)

Chaweng
Bhundhari (2 resorts in one, on beach)

## I will keep a close on eye on things leading into next year, may have to find a new destination to beat the smoke...

BTW, we Big Bike tour all over Thailand and have a pretty good knowledge of most areas :)

We did a day trip here, it was VERY quiet, not sure about the bar scene... Perhaps our destination in 2026 :D

Over the past 10 years and owning a property in the area Ao Nang has been a regular visiting place for us and I can confirm as Atlas has stated prices this year have risen dramatically....due obviously to  the number of tourists  now being attracted there....we were there last weekend and it was still quite busy comparable to the past few years although prices have dropped somewhat and we bagged a bargain staying at the newly built....3 years ago....Infinity hotel in a premier pool view room incl.b/fast for 883 baht/night + taxes.....72 GB pounds on my cc....it was our 4th stay there and although a little way the 4* rating is well deserved.

In the past we have stayed at the hotels Atlas has mentioned at some point or other but I will add to that list

Seaseeker......Panan Krabi Resort.....Sugar Marina cliffhanger....Phu Pi Maan Resort....Pakasai Resort and many others all depends upon pricing at time of booking....I find the sweet spot for prices around a month to two weeks before but if you are not able to leave it so late it can be a pain.

Went to Ko Lanta stayed near long beach a couple of times but IMHO it,s a bit of a dump infrastructure wise and we would not bother again.

Are you aware that Ko Lanta is mainly a Muslim island, and there isn't really any bar scene at all ?

Not looking for a Soi6 type scene. Few places to enjoy drinks and pick freelance...
