Don Mueang to Pattaya

Has anyone done this trip taking the shuttle bus to Subrunhabvumi and then bus to Pattaya?

I am considering doing this journey seeing as my flight arrives at 9am. Seems like it’s enough time to get to Pattaya around 1ish.

I thought the shuttle was only available if you have a confirmed ticket from the other airport? I might be wrong.

You are correct.   You need a ticket

Just take the airport bus or train to mochit and take a bus from mochit to Pattaya  or take the suggested route by booking a private taxi to Pattaya for 1500b tolls included

To be eligible for using the free shuttle bus between Bangkok Airports BKK and DMK, you need to present the following documents:

Ticket, e-ticket, or confirmation (itinerary) of the departing flight on the same or next day

Passport or ID card"

Indeed, but there is no (direct) train.

Just take the A1 Bus (30 TBH, 20 minutes ride, runs every 20 minutes) directly to Mo Chit Station. There is a Bus to Pattaya every hour (150 THB).

I don't recommend going to Mochit station, there really aren't many buses to Pattaya, there's a bus every two or three hours actually, as it doesn't respect the schedule anyway. I will never take a bus from here to Pattaya again.

Actually bus sucks, no reliable schedule, very long trip, some drivers stop to a  small station for gasoline, or for have lunch break, etc. even in BKK  airport or in Ekkamai

if you are not on budget, book a private taxi

even in Ekkamai station, very lucky if you can catch a bus every hours, its more about every 90 minutes

no way in Mochit, btw Mochit has lot more mini vans than buses, but mini vans is very dangerous

Surely you’re not speaking of the Roong Reuang Coach buses … they advertise hourly departures from Ekkamai to Pattaya, but in reality, at least during the hours of 1000 - 1400 which is when I typically depart, they often run departures every 20-40 minutes.  While I’ve had, on occasion, needed to wait 80 minutes for my bus, this has been due to tickets on earlier buses being sold out, not a lack of scheduled departures.

Use a private taxi instead

Is there still a minibus from the minibus station at Mochit to Pattaya?

I never used mochit station.   But, there isn't a reason why the mini bus to Pattaya still doesn't run.

Does anyone know about these busses? How often do they run? I use to cross the bridge and get a big bus to Pattaya, But I won't do that in the high season as these busses can fill up quickly and I could wait another two hours there.

There is a new bus service (pink colour I believe) that goes to and from Pattaya and Hua Hin to DMK.

In Pattaya it stops on Sukhumvit near Little Walk.

You'll need to research frequency

whats the name of the bus station ? I can't find it on Google maps. I located where it is on Google street view just by watching that video, but street view is out of date and doesn't have the bus station.

I finally managed to find the bus terminal yesterday. It is located in soi 45 Sukhumvit, i.e. a little north of Pattaya Klang. The name of the Bus Terminal was written in thai. Since Me No Speak Thai I can not read thai either. There are also buses to Suwarnabhumi. 122 Bath is not that expensive. This is probably a nice solution for those who live near Darkside. Just look for a pink bus in the area. I took pictures of the departure times.

Regarding the shuttle bus between both BKK airports, as I understand it they are free (if you have a plane ticket) but only in 1 direction. What happens when you return from your local Thai flight back to DMK or BKK ?   Seems nuts to me that you can't get the shuttle bus between airports, again.  Can you just pay for it ?

If not are there any other buses to take you from DMK to Swampy ?

Failing that, how much would a taxi cost between the airports ?

Bus line S2 (554) runs between Don Muang and Suwarnabhumi. The journey costs about 40 Baht. This is something I would definitely not recommend. This is a public bus line that has about 50 stops between the airports. The bus is partly full, depending on the time and place. Taxis cost about 450 to 550 Baht. There are a lot of toll stops from Don Muang to Suwarnabhumi, which makes it expensive to travel. I would have traveled to Mo Chit first. It is not far from Don Muang to Mo Chit and there are frequent bus departures. From Mo Chit, buses leave every half hour, at least during rush hour.

Just checked bus timetables (all buses) Mo Chit to Pattaya and the last bus departure is at 6 pm. So that's no good for me, my flight doesn't get into DMK till just before 6 pm.

Looks like I'll have to get a taxi back to Pats.

There are vans/minibuses from Mo Chit New Van Terminal. Last departure is at 8:00 PM. This is not the same terminal as the buses. To move between terminals, you must exit the terminal and use the bridge over the road.

Thanks, I've just been looking at flights and there is another one with better times for coming back, so I'm just going to do that instead, even better these flights are to and from Swampy, and not Don Muang.

For anyone that has experience with the buses or vans from DMK, is luggage a problem? I would have a medium suitcase and a roll-on case along with a backpack.

I know the advice is to travel light, but I'll be coming from another destination where I need to pack more stuff.

If you have heavy bags/additional bags the bus guy would charge a nominal fee of a few baht. Vans could be difficult as space is limited. But if you are among the first passengers there should not be any issue
