Liver pain

Hi, just sharing my experience here because I haven't seen anything (I searched "liver pain" for the record and just found a post about protein powder).

I did a Thai massage yesterday, and when she touched my liver I realized it was quite painful.

It wasn't better today, so I went to the Buakhouw Clinic on Soi Buakhao.

Staff asked for my ID, checked me in, and I waited about 5 minutes to see a doctor.

The guy immediately asked if I had drunk too much, I said yes. Well I mean I've been drinking for a couple of days, but not in huge amounts. Maximum was 1/4 bottle of rhum, and I usually drink more.

I had fish an chips in a club. Probably didn't help, but it's not something so unusual.

I'm in decent shape (25 BMI), but I do have the fatty liver condition.

So yeah he said it was likely the alcohol. He said he'd give me vitamins for the liver.

I paid 2900 THB, they gave me some pills labeled "Vitamin" (not saying which one) and other pills labeled "stomach pain"...  There was also a bottle of "immunity booster".

I was about to leave, but they asked me to come, did a "syringe" sign, and said "vitamin". I was bit confused and thought maybe they wanted to do a blood test, but why vitamins?

They actually did a perfusion of vitamins. Never heard of that. Was kind of weird to be get unknown products injected in my body in such a situation, but well... What do I know?

I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't do a blood test, perhaps I should have asked. If there's a viral infection id rather know it sooner than later.

Pain in any of your vital organs need to be taken seriously if they are ongoing. looks like the doctor didn`t give a full check up.

For blood tests I and many other BM's use Lifecare. See linked post below for location and more info.

If it were me, I would go to a hospital, not a clinic.

In my opinion a doctor in a local clinic may not be as qualified or experienced as a hospital doctor.

I would think liver pain is very serious issue.

If you can afford it, Bangkok-Pattaya hospital is the best private hospital in Pattaya.

I have also gone to Pattaya Memorial hospital, and also Pattaya international hospital for other various ailments.

Totally agree, the clinic does not seem to have dealt with the issue. I'd go to a hospital as well in this case.

Especially that clinic. There isn't one valid diagnostic step or legitimate treatment for a ridiculous price.

No lab tests e.g. liver function tests and no Hepatitis tests which is a liver disease, primarily, for close to $100.

Bukhao clinic are quacks.

Go to Bangkok hospital if you are worried, only decent hospital in Pattaya.

I would go to a Hospital, get a blood test, and see what your Gamma GT reading is.

Give it a few days see how it goes, what they gave you would be a vitamin drip used to do them all the time not sure they work other than hydrated you but I always felt better after .

For clinics, here are a few I would trust.

https://generalclinicpattaya.com/ - they have ultrasound, do blood work

Pattaya 2 Internal Medicine clinic, the guy works until 5pm in City Hospital, then does evenings there. He knows what he is doing. Beware there is a "farang" surcharge around 800 baht more than the locals pay. He has x-ray on site, and is internal medicine doctor. https://maps.app.goo.gl/QGukPmGNc7k5wbgr5 website at that link, but it is in Thai

Dr Olivier - well known farang doctor.

Club Medical Doc Martyn - available on "Club Medical Pattaya" Facebook group

If it floats, flies or fucks, RENT IT!!!!! "He who hesitates, masturbates"

The vitamin drip / inject is very common treatment in thailand.  Girls seem to get given it for all sorts of symptoms. Girls dont object to it.

I've never had it, but would probably ask what it was if offered.

Best ask for medical names of stuff dished out by clinics.  Research it yourself to see what it is.

Small bags labelled 'cough' don't convince me !

Liver pain - I'd go to BPH myself. Up to you ofcourse.  Your body, the doctors choice.

Ok think I can comment on this for the OP.

I had liver pain for quite a long time (more than 6 months) finally decided to get my blood test. It came back with abnormal liver ,so went and got a ultrasound done. My doctor said I have grade 3 fatty liver , there is only 3 grades so it's severe. So get an appointment to see a gastrointestinal specialist.

He did a fibrescan to see how stiff my liver is/ was, if it is stiff your fucked, you'll end up with cirrhosis of the liver or liver cancer.

Went back 3 months later for another liver check and specialist says it's slightly improved BUT you need to lose weight which will help. My GP has said he can write a script for Mounjaro for the weight loss but I will ask my specialist at my next appointment in early January if he suggests I try it but at $400± a month it don't come cheap but what price is your health worth ?

To the OP despite your 25 bmi go get a blood test.

Hey sorry for not answering I had notifications turned off for this thread so I thought no one had answered.

So yeah I did a blood test for the liver (+kidney and hepatitis) the day after, and it's all good. I did a zoom call with my doctor in France and he says I can do an ultrasound when I get home, but no emergency apparently, since the blood test is good.

The pain is still there, but it's only if I press on my side. It hasn't worsened though.

I'm also abstaining from eating fried and drinking alcohol or soda.

Thanks for the tips.
