Agoda give you a price when you book a hotel etc, then there is the small print with the 17% tax added on. Why can't they be upfront with their prices?

I only ever see the final price after taxes & fees.

I do not like the way Agoda quotes prices; the price they show is not the price you pay. It is subject to additional charges, which can run up to about +17%.

I'm not interested in the accounting details. What I want is how much I am asked to pay, the bottom line.

If you are using the Agoda.co.au website, which is the Australian website, by law they have to show the total price.  So I am not sure what you are doing wrong here.

I have used Agoda easily more than 100 times and never had an issue.  I find it cheapest in Asia probably 90% of the time.  hotels.com is never the cheapest in Asia and is often significantly more expensive.

Also, your results may vary depending on if you use Agoda directly, or use other options like trivago, trip advisor or Google maps.  It can vary by 10%.  It is definitely worth checking out at least one of the comparison sites.

I usually use Google maps for search and then often Agoda list the best price for independent or smaller chain hotels in Thailand. I like the cancelation policy and not paying before 3 days upfront of the stay, that gives me a lot flexibility. Remember to choose to pay in THB, if not they will charge a less favorable convertion rate.

If you have secured a price with Agoda months ahead and have the cancellation policy you should still check the prices, you might score a better deal even with Agoda, and then you can just double book and cancel the highest price.

So far I haven't had any issues booking with Agoda.

Yes. Check Trivago.com  and TripAdvisor: Read Reviews, Compare Prices & Book  websites.

Also check hotels' own websites for hotels on your shortlist. Many hotels equal best available price.

When on-the-spot in Pattaya, I've sometimes found walk-in price is the best. Just walk to reception and ask 'What is availability/price for (dates)?'

I don’t know how Agoda are from your country but for me the prices are inclusive all taxes…

Use hotels.com, Agoda, and bookings.com when researching reservations at hotels, in that priority. Never had issues with any.  Normally search all and compare the offerings and inclusions. Some places only find on Agoda, they seem to have the best coverage in SE Asia.

Always good to read closely the costs and what is and isn't included for the reasons others mentioned. Have booked using the property operated website, have also run into not all the costs included until you make the reservation, primarily the VAT charge.

Also, note the cancellation policies because they differ by residents in many cases.

Another option is to use Airbnb which I use almost exclusively. These are generally homes, condos and apartments you can stay at.

Agoda is owned by Booking Holdings which is the parent company of a few other booking sites. I'm not the Agoda fan that I used to be.

I much prefer the interface on the booking.com app instead of the Agoda app. I will summarily check both of them before making a booking and go with the cheaper one.

This past trip my favorite hotel wasnt available on the hotel site but some rooms were available on Agoda. I dont know if its like this for other hotels or if I was just lucky. Also it had loads more hotels available than other booking sites.

That is because when they make contracts with Agoda they reserved a certain amount of rooms to Agoda, so even if the have all others room sold out Agoda still have their shares of rooms available…

Anyone have a phone number for Agoda?  Made and paid for a stay in Feb and it does not show up with my other bookings.  It shows in the app but not on the website.  They sent multiple messages about problems and Their chat section sucks.  It makes me pick a booking which does not show when I give the booking number.

I need to find out if I have the reservation.

Does the link in the email open into a booking online?

I’d also confer with the hotel to ensure they had it … Agoda gets wonky sometimes.

Customer service wants me to pick a booking to chat and this booking does not show up.  My other 2 do.

I have sent an email directly to the hotel. If they show my reservation, I'm all good but still don't know why Agoda does not show it.

A:Press 1 then enter Booking ID (or 0# until you are transferred to leave a message). Our free phone can also navigate phone menus to get a live human at Agoda for you.

Yes, that's the number I used a few years ago when I had an issue and it worked, but I can't remember the details. I still have that number as a contact on my phone.

Citrus suites  responded that they did have the reservation.  They said it was through another site but my credit card statement says Agoda.  Not sure what happened but all is good.

Thanks for all the helpful responses.

Agoda owns a few bookings sites

I wonder if booking on the website and booking on the app made a difference?  The missing res was booked on the app and the others were booked on the website.  Both Agoda.

I have booked with Agoda a lot and use them when I'm first looking for a hotel.  As stated above, the map feature works well.   Once have a couple of hotels I like, I'll go to the hotel site to check their rates.   Sometimes you can find lower rates directly with the hotels, but they might not be refundable, depends what your are looking for.

I've only had one issue when booking with Agoda, I had to cut my trip 2 days short, and when I told the hotel, they said they could not give me a refund because the booking was made with Agoda.   I did contact Agoda, but it after a few emails it wasn't going anywhere and just gave up.
