Intro - Living up in Issan, a quick 50 minute flight takes me to Suvarnabhumi airport, and being so close it makes it easy for me to holiday in Pattaya (a week or two at a time) around 8 times a year. Over the years I reckon I’ve stayed in around 50 hotels, condotels and guest houses in Pattaya. I like to holiday on my own or with buddies who travel from Australia or the UK to visit me. This time my cop mate from Liverpool was over for a few weeks. Now I always try and book hotels around what my mates want (and this mate - who is budget conscious - wants a hotel with pool and good location around 1500THB… and the Whitehouse ticked all the boxes). 

Location - as I get older, more often than not, I book hotels which are not on top of the action around soi Buhakow. Whitehouse is located on soi 13 beach road. I think the location is fabulous as it’s 2 minutes to Beach Road and a few steps away from second road up….this means you have access to Baht buses running both directions. You also have close at hand a lot of bars, and also right on your doorstep, the excellent Sportsman’s bar which is a quintessential English pub, with great food and outstanding customer service. 

Check-in - So dropped off by Taxi we found ourselves walking into to the entrance… you can tell from the off that this is more of a traditional place (rather than say the modernity of DeBua which I had just checked out of). As we got out of the taxi John the manager helped us with luggage. He is a top bloke and sets the tone in terms of creating a friendly environment. The hotel is ‘upmarket Thai style’…from the marble steps at the entrance, to the feel of the bed linen, right the way through to the quality of bath towels in your room is of a decent standard. The check-in process itself was quick, easy and  efficient, and you should note that unlike many hotels, you will not be asked to leave 1,000 THB deposit when checking in.  

Rooms - I booked a standard room which was a decent size at 30+sqm and they are traditional in design, spec’d to a reasonably high standard, and well laid out. Despite the view of the carpark from my balcony, guess where that is, I really appreciated the ‘feel’ of the room. Unlike many modern hotels there is a wardrobe and for a a ‘neat freak’ like me it’s important not to have your kit spread out on random surfaces. There is a desk/table to work/eat from and balcony looking directly onto the carpark. 

There is a small flat screen smart television, and there are also enough power outlets to charge my devices. The lighting in the room is good, and you can get a nice configuration should you happen to be entertaining. There is small refrigerator which contains offerings from the hotel, and inside the wardrobe is an electronic safe. 

The bed was on the firm side, not ‘Thai hard’ but certainly not soft. The AC worked well - totally silent and with a clean filter. Note there are no bathrobes or slippers. Tea, Coffee and Kettle are provided.

Bathroom- The bathroom layout is of the traditional variety…ie there is none of this fashionable sink in room, with separate bath/shower room and WC. The shower gel was quality too. 

Wifi - The WiFi signal was good, although you have to login daily.

Breakfast - The breakfasts…well TBH one of the best I’ve ever had. What’s more it’s the only place I’ve been that has 100% waiter service - no getting up by yourself for the… delicious traditional English breakfast.

Facilities - the hotel has a relaxing area on the roof with a small pool, with sun loungers and chairs. This rooftop area is very private, you often find yourself up there on your own - it also features Jacuzzi.

Customer Service - the staff, ably led by manager John, are very friendly and helpful. The receptionists are respectful to any guests you might invite back to your ‘loom’…no guest charges (for one visitor), ID cards must be handed in (a good thing in my view). Security is good and after 7pm there is a night manager on duty. I felt safe and comfortable the entire time. 

Cleanliness - The cleaning in the room is of a really high standard, the place is totally immaculate - clean as a whistle. The staff are fine in terms of giving you extra towels etc...as always guys consider leaving a daily tip on top of the bed, for the hard working cleaners. I will give extra points to  hotel for how quickly the rooms are made up…usually 30 minutes after putting the sign on. In some hotels you leave the ‘please clean room’ sign on say after breakfast… you can return some hours later to find that nothings changed, and that your room may not be cleaned until say 4 pm… not so here. 

Noise - This hotel is located on soi 13 and is totally silent at night. 

Parking - available for motorcycles and cars.

Price - I got this via Agoda at the price of 1,600THB (including breakfast).

Overall -  In some respects this property is one that I didn’t expect to like as much as I did. It’s not one of the modern flash hotels which I normally go for, however in terms of comfort cleanliness and friendliness, I would rate it really highly. Add to this, a superb location then I would have to conclude it’s a complete winner. Whitehouse do not appear to cater for tour groups, so no large groups of Indian lads, nor coach loads of Chinese. US, Aussie, European and Korean guests (often golfers) are the ones I met. IMHO this is an hotel which offers outstanding customer service within the framework of traditional decor yet has modern 3 star standards. If you like the location (and I do), and you enjoy outstanding customer service… then the Whitehouse is definitely somewhere you should consider.

Back in the day ( the 1990's ) i had an acquaintance who was very loyal to The Whitehouse and it seems that they have maintained their standards. In those days the 13's were much busier than they are today and i spent a lot of time on soi post office and soi yamato but the area around the Whitehouse was always a bit more peaceful. Being a slightly older property the rooms are also a little more generously proportioned which is always a plus in my book

Another Whitehouse fan here. I discovered the place by accident and have been staying there ever since. I always book the 64sqm  1br because of the I like the extra room and amenities. 

The only thing that I think could use improvement is the TV. I don't like the cable service and cant stream any premium channels.

This used to be my go-to hotel when 1st coming to Pattaya in the 2010s. Stay at Soi 10 hotels now as the location is a bit better for my needs. Agree with all the OP has to say, & this place flies under the radar.

As I say in the post ID cards are checked (a good thing in my view). 
Joiners (one at a time) are free in almost all hotels in Pattaya. Two joiners are usually allowed in hotels, but you might be asked for a fee (500THB?).

Looking at that "view" I imagin myself opening up the curtains, naked of course, and show my dream nightmare body off to whoever is parking at the moment, resulting in a shock for the driver witch will put the pedal to the metall, break true the wall and fall off with his car. 

That now leads to my questions: do they have day time curtains? Because if not, it's a no no for me. I hate to have to close night curtains daytime, so nobody can watch me in the room. Especially not if that person is only some meters away.

Nice review.  I used to own a condo in that building.  Really good to hear John is still there.  Top guy.  I agree with everything but will list the reasons I sold the condo (which I somewhat regret).  These reasons would only matter if I lived there full time.

Parking - yeah you MIGHT get a spot for a car.  If I lived there I would own a car and would want certainty that I could park.  The biggest mistake made building this place was NOT adding the underground parking.  I could even accept the next problem but this is the deal killer for me and why I sold.

View - fine for a holiday.  I'm not a huge view fan but to retire in I would want SOME kind of view. 

But the location is sooooooo good.  Nice and quiet and steps from whatever you want in Pattaya.  Really nice to hear they are maintaining standards there and I love the staff and breakfast. 

 

I popped in for a spot of breakfast today…always delicious! Spoke with John the manager and he tells me that bookings are very strong this year. Can’t say I’m surprised. The Whitehouse with it’s outstanding customer service is a bit of a hidden gem.

Arrived yesterday, I'm very impressed with the place, few little problems to start but sorted very quickly. Very nice staff.

The last recommendation (247 boutique) was a real winner, so I'm looking forward to this one too. Your clear photos of the room were a big help.

The location looks great - some fun places to try in soi 13.1, Avenue mall nearby, Robin Hood, a ten minute walk to Soi Boomerang, or an instant baht bus to Soi 6. I might even finally try a pickup from the coconut bar.

If you happen to be in town early to mid June, I definitely owe you a couple of beers.

It's been over a decade since I spent three weeks at the Whitehouse Condotel in Suite #215. As noted, the location is superb -- especially for visitors who might be new in town. Easy access to baht buses headed both north and south. Short walk to the naughty boy haunts centered around Soi LK Metro. That said, Soi 13 is an oasis of calm. The Sportsman is a great place to eat, and there are a couple of laundries. Inside the Whitehouse struck me as a place that catered to, shall we say, a more relaxed guest. I saw lots of golfers tucking into the excellent breakfast bright and early every morning. At night there were a handful of gents having a drink in the lobby, but by 2000 a hush fell over the place.

Here are some photos of what the suites look like. Not much view from the balconies, but up on the roof it was a pleasant place to sit poolside.

This was my hotel during my last trip.

I think I might have even stayed in the same room as the author, or at least on the same side of the building, because the view looked almost identical.

For me, the location is perfect. That's exactly why I picked it. I like walking, so it's about a 20-minute walk to Soi 6 via Beach Road, around 12 minutes to Walking Street and Soi Buakhao, and even less to Soi Honey.

The hotel is on Soi 13, and even though it's right in the middle of everything, it's surprisingly quiet, so getting a good night's sleep wasn't a problem.

The breakfast was good, but it gets repetitive pretty quickly. If I were staying longer than a week, I probably wouldn't book breakfast with the room.

There's a small but nice rooftop pool, and you get a great view of the bay from there, which is a big plus.

The staff were excellent—from the housekeeping ladies to the reception team and the manager. Everyone was really friendly.

The only downside, just like the author mentioned, was the view from the room. But honestly, during the day I was only in the room for a nap, so it didn't bother me, and at night the curtains were closed anyway.

There's no extra charge if you bring one guest back to your room overnight. They only charge if you bring a second person, and I think it was 500 baht.

When going out, you can leave your room key at the 24-hour reception, so you don't have to worry about losing it.

Right in front of the hotel there's a massage shop that's pretty decent, and just a little further down there's a great place to eat that's open late. The owner even cooked me a meal at 4:30 a.m.

None of the girls I brought back ever complained about the room or the hotel, so I'd definitely recommend it. I'll be staying there again—I already have my next booking.

Nice review.  BTW I always thought the pool was COLD.  Perhaps I don't like cold water.  In fairness I don't use my own pool in Arizona until it is about 90 degrees F.

Now that you mention it, I actually remember the pool being pretty cold. On the other hand, when it's 30°C+ and sunny, some people might see that as a good thing.

I also need to correct what I said about the view from the pool. You can see the bay, but there's no real panoramic view.

One more thing worth mentioning: I arrived at the hotel quite early, around 11 a.m. (I had an early flight to Bangkok). Official check-in starts at 2 p.m., so I was planning to leave my luggage and head out to explore the city. Instead, they asked me to wait about 15 minutes in the lobby while they got my room ready, and I was able to check in early at no extra charge, which was a really nice surprise.

As for security, if you bring a guest back to the hotel, they either keep their ID at the front desk or just write down the details—I honestly don't remember which. Most of the time I'd say goodbye to the girls outside the hotel, but one time I was too tired (or just couldn't be bothered), and before they let her leave, the front desk actually called my room to make sure I was okay. I thought that was a nice touch from a safety perspective.

Yes WH has a lot of nice touches and staff has always been great.  I think the pool thing being cold is more me.  Heck I keep the inside of my house here in AZ at 79 degrees F (26.111 C) and every once in a while I need to step outside to shake the chill off.  

It was ok.

Didn't like looking out to next building.

Pool was ok but a bit of a dip plunge only.

I wouldn't stay again.  Now I stay 247 Boutique.

I have stayed there twice and the consistency is the main thing. British management, breakfast until 11am, pool, about 2,500 baht a night, and it does not feel like a gamble the way budget places often do.

I've stayed at Whitehouse around 5 times. I book the 64 sqm 1 bedroom suite. It was around 3200 in May. The staff is great and the manager Jon is a really good guy. Breakfast is simple but consistent and good. No view but for me the lack of noise makes up for it.

Booking direct is hassle free and usually will save you a little money.
