Hello guys

i’m just wondering if anyone has flown with finnair recently and what they’re like?

I wasnt going to bother coming this December but as the nights are drawing in and I work a lot outside I’ve changed my mind 😂 with me looking at flying from Manchester on 27th December for a month, the cheapest is hainan airlines at £840.00 but I’m not sure what a flight with about 95% Chinese people would be like so the next cheapest is Finnair at £1100. Including layover of 20 hours.

Finnair is fine. Just another European airline. Have flown them to BKK once and a few times to Helsinki.

Flying through Helsinki will add extra flight time though, as it's the wrong direction.

They are doing the SYD - BKK sector for Qantas. Finn air crew with Thai cabin staff.

I liked the service. Will use them again.

Life must be lived forward, but can only be understood backwards.

20 hours? Then you'll need a hotel room at the airport and they're not cheap

Flew with them 30 years ago, it was ok then, probably still is.

It was my second time in Thailand and I wasn't yet used to the trauma of coming home

I vividly remember the culture shock of walking onto the plane from the Land of Smiles to a very business-like cabin crew.

The ultimate symbolism was walking through the airbridge to transit in Helsinki and getting hit with an icy blast of air because it wasn't sealed.

Flew Bangkok-Helsinki-Munich, did bicycle tours in Bavaria and Austria, then flew Vienna-Helsinki-Bangkok.

All good; efficient transfer when I had only 45 minutes to switch at Helsinki on way out.

This was before Ukraine hostilities, we flew over Russia. Is flight time now longer due to restrictions/diversions?

Completely the opposite from the UK

Finnair has the shortest "air time" of any carrier that goes via a hub

Etihad is 2nd

(edited in....before Russia kicked off closing airspaces)

Sorry I may of worded it wrong. it’s 20 hours total 2hrs 50 from Manchester to Helsinki, 6hr wait and then 11hr 30 to Bangkok.

Have you looked at Ethiad or Gulf airlines? I don’t go Thailand in December so maybe the prices are different.

Etihad, Qatar and emirates are all hovering at about 1500 right now, I’m guessing it’s unlikely they’ll be dropping their prices by December. I’ve just checked gulf air and they seem reasonable with price and flight times.

I've just had a looked out of London (acknowledge you said Manchester) on 27th December for 1 month

Plenty of carriers around £700 but many extensive transit times
