AirBnB WTF?

Recommended Posts

Pretty much every price I click on in the map-feature comes up as a unit in The Base condos.  They show the same floor plan and everything, just different hosts.  They might as well be the same ad, even though they're blocks apart.   How is this possible?

Everyone is just trying to get their units rented.  Most units in the building have a very similar layout.  Just go with a well reviewed host and you'll be fine.  Note that many of the higher units are noisy from either LK Metro or Treetown.  Surprisingly, the lower units are usually quieter as they're shielded by nearby buildings

I reckon the entire Base and Edge condos are Airbnbs.

I can’t imagine anyone wanting to live there long term. I stayed in Edge  for 5 nights. It’s nice enough but by about the 3rd day, sure did miss the room service.

Many of The Base condos were purchased by Chinese investors.  They are being managed by many different companies/businesses.  So you select an Airbnb to rent, but end up with one that doesn't look like the photos. They will be different "hosts" but in reality are the same management team.

Personally I steer clear of The Base (and The Edge) unless they actually run by a superhost Thai single owner. And they are not that common anymore.  There are much better accommodation solutions to choose from.

Not the biggest issue in my life - but it pisses me off all the same.

When on AirBNB looking for a condo, I always use the map.  EVERYTIME i do this I have 1 minute of excitement when I notice a condo in a central area, that I didn't know was there.

I click on it, and it is always a Base Condo unit but the pin is placed 1000 metres away.

I rented a condo from an owner. He was leaving and offered it to me for a month at a cheap price.

I used it as a short time room. I grew to loath it. I didnt enjoy my sessions much as the room is soooo small.

Theres no way I could stay or live in those tiny condos.
