hey all planning a stay on koh chang for part of my asia trip.

 

can anyone tell me how cheap the cheaper accomodation is? can you find bamboo beach huts? which part of the island is the quietest an least touristy? can you still find many girls avaliable like in pattaya n the towns on koh chang? hows the snorkeling in koh chang?

Its all fairly quiet compared to Pattaya

Best to bring your own "nightime entertainment" too

Prices tend to be somewhat higher there due to all the stuff needing to be "imported" there from mainland. Thats the excuse anyway

Snorkling and esp diving is supposed to be the best that side of Phuket area. Certainly got whats left of the diving in Pattaya well beat

Dunno about the cheaper accomodation, so cant help you on that

Take your own entertainment with you, very limited action with local ladies.

 

Plenty of low cost bungalow accommodation all around the island, all place seem pretty quiet most of the time on the beach.

 

Some of the cheapest and crappiest hovels/bungalows are on white sands beach, they look like they will collapse on the next hide tide.

 

There are plenty of left of center farang hang around this area so you can be assured you can get most of the happy medication supliments you are looking for.

 

BIMHO Koh Chang is a bit low key and of a slower style that most resort Islands in LOS and can not be compared with the activities available in Pattay in any way shape or form except that away from the outfall drains in White Sands Beach the water is a little more appealing than Pattaya Bay.

ill have to meet a nice chick in patts to take to the island then eh. if i was to meet a chick an bring her with, spend like two or three or four days wit her, then could i send her back and carry on around the island or are you meant to escort them back to pattaya and theyre bar?

 

an im glad its quieter there thats the idea chillin on the beach in peace...

 

would you recomend buying a pair of snorkelin goggles or are they cheap an of decent quality out there to buy? how much does it cost to rent them?

 

can you get a boat ride from koh chang or somewhere close on the mainland across the gulf to the west part down where ko samui and kohpangan are? or do you have to mission all the way around by land?

There are several groups of beer bars scattered around the island. The largest group is in the White Sands beach area. There were probably 20 bars or so with some very nice looking talent. If you go alone I'm sure you can find something but as said above, you'll have nowhere near the selection of Patts.

I know it is not directly related to Ko Chang but is you are looking for a great beach experience then try the Similan Islands out from Koa Lak, 180 km north of Phuket. If you want fine white beaches, good seafood and coral reef to snorkel over, but no women, no bars then try Similan islands. The Islands can be reached by boat from Phuket or Koa Lak they are secluded and a great place to get away from the hustle of the mainland. Don’t get me wrong it is basic. Beer is available, food, meals and other supplies e.g. fuels, batteries can be purchased from the friendly national parks staff. They run an open air canteen/gift shop and take tours of Is. Accommodation was 6 or so beach bungalows and tents with wooden floors. All are separated from each other and blend in with vegetation. Prices are reasonable, but yes you pay more due to transport of goods, i would say 10-15% more.

 

I went two years ago with a lady from Patong beach she was into swimming, sun and snorkelling, which is unusual for a Thai as I understand. She was fit, sexy, 23yrs and loved to ….. wow flash backs. You would need to chose the right girl to take or it could turn to shit. There is only one boat out a day. I met 2 Germans who got a lift across to Is with a dive operator out of Phuket (1-2 hrs depending on seas) cheap as there was spots on the day dive boat. Google Similan Is, there is quite a bit on the net especially in the scuba web sites.

 

I intend to go Koh Chang Jan 2010 but on my own and try my luck, they say i strong sexy man. I will read with interest whats on the forum

I have been to Koh Chang 3 times and I love it as it's a place where you can relax and recharge your batteries. But don't worry there are bars all over the island and BGs that take good care of you. In White Sand they even have small bar complex they call "Litle Pattaya". Picked up a qutie there on my first trip. If you want some action ask a BG for where they are trowing a party. The word goes around a people from all over the island shows up. It often takes place on Lonley Beach where most of the younger people stay.

I was also there in June this year and then I got a lot of attention. We where not many farangs on the island.

My favorite spot is Cats bar in Kae Bea. Nut is the sweetest mamasan / bar owner on the island and she always takes good care of me. Blew the 3 day rule with a year or so on a real nice TG I found there.

For sure I will spend some days there for diving, drinking, TGs and sun in November when I go to LOS again.

Koh Chang

Chang mean= elephant

Koh chang mean = elephant island

Koh Chang basically a laid back ,chill out island, lots of Jungle and national park land.

There are scores of cheap places to stay , costing from as little as a few hundred baht a night for what amounts to no more than a garden shed with a bed. Most are on the west side as there are few beaches on the east, and the highest concentration is at White Sands.

Stayed in romantic beach hut (little more than shack but expensive 1800 baht for sea view) for 3 nights on White Sand beach there is a “Little Pattaya “as another BM mentioned, it’s a small bar complex just off white sands beach, few girly bars around island, hence fewer bar girls = much less choice, took my own BG, didn’t regret it when I seen local talent.

Koh Chang is not a party island, many Thais holiday there, especially at weekends for R+R . So the time of year you visit is important..Don’t go during Thai Holiday.

Went via car and ferry, drove from Bangkok.

Get mobbled getting of ferry by accomodation + taxi touts.

book before you go first night at least.

 

You won’t find star bucks etc on Koh Chang.

no go go's etc,

swimming, fishing trips, or boat rides to lesser islands for snorkelling which costs from 500 baht for a full day with lunch included.

A few girl Bar complexes,lots of Thai resturants, there are also a couple of smart Italian restaurants around.

Enjoyed my mini honeymoon in Koh chang .a bit of swimming, reading, eating, drinking and lots of loving.

Nice pictures, nice girl and a very nice price for that place. Normally prices in that place is sky high. At least for me.

I was looking to go to Koh Chang about Xmas this year, just looked on Dusit site and basic room 4900bht per night, same room in September 1900bht. Think I will wait till next year.

I went to Koh Chang last year and the nightlife is very quiet.I stayed at White Sand Beach at Alina hotel.There are some bars across the road from there and I picked up these girls,both good girls except the first one would not "smoke"

I've also stayed at the Dusit Princess. One option they offer is the Villa Room with private pool. The pool is small,

but has 10 foot wall around for privacy. There's an underwater flood light for night swimming, and a waist-high ledge that your girl can sit on while you make waves.

1900 Baht for a beach front jacuzzi room in the dusit, that's what i call a great deal. I have been looking for rooms around new year, got some insane prices for a decent hotel!

Aana resort at klong prao beach standard room is 5000 and jacuzzi room up to 9000
