Shared Taxi from Bangkok to Pattaya .

People can post their dates and we can club travels to Pattaya making it cheaper for everybody.

Is there a thread for this already ? If not let's make this thread serve this purpose : )

Guys I am landing at 10pm. There is no bus this late.

I didn't know everybody would be so pessimistic about sharing a taxi to Pattaya.

I think this plan requires too much coincidence with arrival times and isn't worth the hassle to save 500 or 600B.

And if your taxi buddy is delayed and you go solo they are fucked out of any taxi at all. Great to discover after a 3 hour delay from the connecting airport

A bit of topic but when working I had  many, very pleasant, shared ride with complete strangers from hotels to heliport etc. If it wasnt for the coordination issues I would have been happy  to share a ride, not for the money but for the opportunity to meet new and interesting people.

Guys , I am sorry , I was basically being a cheap charlie here.. I am going to do a bolt which is 1000 THB. I had the SGD to THB exchange rates wrong in my mind and therefore was just too keen on sharing cabs lmao.. 1000 THB is a great deal tbh.

Bolt is 1000THB now? 

Been using Nams taxis lately for 1200 which is generally stress free because they have the greeter in the bright pink shirt you cant miss. 

For the 1K there is also Mr T taxi and Mike Taxi.

There's nothing wrong with your idea at all (apart from the inevitable synchronization issues, as alluded to by Sac Les)

Whenever I organize a taxi they always ask me how many passengers. My assumption is that the more passengers onboard, the more they'll charge (but at a lesser rate, as it's still only one trip)

It's entirely up to the taxi company to decide on how they process such variables.

First, if I had to shar a ride to save a few baht, I wouldn't/shouldn't be coming to Pattaya.

What happens when the person's flight is delayed a few hours that you're sharing a ride with?

Do you leave or wait for him?

I would also be concerned about the other person because of not knowing him and you have no clue what kind of a person he it.

I’ve shared a taxi with a first time board member.

It worked fine. Obviously there can be issues with flights. We decided worst case scenario we get our own transport, which is easy enough to find. 

I used the monthly who’s coming to town thread and found someone arriving on the same day as me. Sent him a DM and we were landing close to the same time.

It was his first trip to Patts so I figured it would be nice to have someone with a bit of previous experience to give him some insights into Patts.

Worked out great! Well, except for the fact he went and married one of the girls he ended up meeting on his second trip!

I am a lone traveler, but I am not a solitary person when in Pattaya. 

I didn’t set it up to save 600 baht, actually I think I paid 1K of the fare anyway. It was a chance to meet a new to Thailand board member and build what has become a great friendship.

There’s always a reason not to, sometimes, it is fun to just let go and say yes to things.

makes sense. I was being a cheapo tbh. But also had the rates wrong in my mind. I might take Nams like other people have suggested. No point in waiting and finding a fellow tourist because I can use that time for a quick ST upon reaching Pattaya

hola_hi have you thought about posting your holiday dates in the Pattaya Roll Call??   As you get close to your arrival date you can see if anybody has posted the same arrival date as you.  If someone as posted the same arrival date as you then maybe you can pm them and ask if they are on the same flight as you.  And if they are then maybe you can arrange to share a taxi together.

I'm an experianced solo traveller and after a long journey I'm just happy to get through immigration, grab my suitcase and then find my taxi driver and get to Pattaya as quickly as possible
