Can you block video calls on Line app ?

A few of the ladies on my Line friends list have this annoying habit of video calling me instead of just messaging me. I don't do FaceTime and similarly I'm not interested in doing video calls on Line. Sure it can be useful sometimes, and that's fine but at least let ME decide when I will accept a video call or not.

I thought there might be an easy way to disable it in settings but I can't find anything.  Under CALLS, I only see the option "Allow voice calls".  

WTF ??  where is the option to allow/disallow video calls ?     I'm on an Android phone, if that makes any difference.

Probably just going to have to mute or block her

Yes.

Open the Line App. Go to settings , scroll down to calls in the general area and disable “ allow voice calls “ .

But you can always decide to accept or not accept any call, video or otherwise … 

I think you can disable calls broadly but not by individual user.  I’ve had a few call without any warning … I tell them once not to do so again; second time they get blocked.  I also keep the ringer of my phone off nearly all the time as I don’t want any interruptions whilst I’m in a meeting or on another call.

did you read the part where I said I want to disable VIDEO, not Voice ?

Is the issue you don't want to see them or you don't want them to see you? Because you can disable your camera after accepting a video call and I believe you can also close the screen and it won't end the call which essentially turns a video call into an audio one.

I think you either allow calls at all or not. So if you uncheck "allow voice calls" I expect it will also disallow video calls.

Ive turned this off for me and I think it blocks both.

You cannot ONLY disable video calls. You can change that aforementioned setting, but it will disable both voice and video calls. Otherwise you have to reject video calls yourself.

but that makes no sense because the 2 things are separate features - its literally built into the design - when you make a call, you can choose to make a voice call, or a video call - 2 different buttons/icons, so 2 different features.  So why can't you disable one feature without disabling the other ?

now we're getting somewhere. sounds like a workaround. I'm gonna try that. 👍

I am still pretty ignorant about Line, I need to block someone, but cannot find how to do that. Can someone help me please?

open the chat window with the person you wish to block, click on the 3 lines on the top right corner, click block top right corner.

Alternatively, find the person you wish to block on your friends list, press and hold for a second on their name and a menu should come up with the option to block them

Your phone maybe different I just hold my finger on Line app which takes me into the App Info & I deny Permission to the camera.

 

I haven't used Line for awhile so I would have to test if I can see the caller's video as my phone would not be doing video of me.
