Personally i really like the new Windows 7 almost as much as Ubuntu. It's much more stable than Vista so if you are interested i recommend downloading it.

Best thing is it is legal and free for 1 year :-)

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/ just click the download link.

This is the fastest I've seen a version of Windows released. Hopefully it's a lot better than Vista.

Yes it is a million times better than Vista. Without a doubt the is a quality release, i guess they must finally care about losing sales to Linux & Apple.

Just installed on my Acer Aspire 5530G laptop, everything works fine except for a recurring bleep, apparently a USB related issue.

It happens every 5 seconds or so.

Also just installed the Virtual XP program just in case.

Windows 7 64 bit version with 4Gb RAM.

Much faster than Vista on startup/shutdown which was my main gripe with Vista, and installed in about 20 minutes.

Well impressed and am using as my main PC and will install on my desktop when I get back home

How is it for driver compatability/availability? Running on Vista now and would hate to not be able to use some of my applications.

I did not need to use the driver CD (Vista) that came with the notebook as everything installed ok,Win 7 must have most drivers pre loaded.

A lot of the apps that were loaded onto the original Vista install I removed anyway as most are rubbish and just junk up the pc.

All apps I normally use,Office,Nero Norton etc all work fine

Thanks for that. I might give it a spin when I have the time, I like to re-install a fresh OS once in a while and that will be the time to try it out.

Installing the 64-Bit version is only required if you want to use MORE that 4Gb of memory anything 4Gb and under should stick with 32-Bit OS.

Have you checked the event log as if it is the OS doing to beeping then there must be an event log that tells you why. If there is no event log then it could be the TEMP of the decide now Windows 7 is using more power, so check the heat and maybe raise it off the desk with a little stand.

Addressing more than 4gb is one benefit of running a 64-bit OS (and actually the cutoff is usually somewhere around 3GB, depending on your system). The other benefit is use of the x86-64 instruction set, which, if you're using 64-bit software, will run faster than 32bit software. This is particularly noticeable on 64bit versions of Linux (since nearly everything in most x86_64 distro's is compiled for 64bit).

    • For those that don't know, I did Friday meetings before many years ago,  I feel like we are missing a regular meeting for members,  I am aware guys meet at PA affiliated bars. But I want to start meeting people again, I'm inviting the guys following my YouTube also.

The meetings is a chance to get to meet each other,  I plan to be at every meeting, I also have Dean from Dive bar that has offered to help out with a crawl after.
The meetings will be  Monday  6 pm - 8 pm each week.  (The improvised bar crawl will commence at 8 p.m.  Dean will make his own plans for that.)

Due to low numbers of people in town, I will start the meetings in our bars to help our girls and managers, please check back often incase things are changed.  I will be sharing the love around town later, but Soi 6 is first on my list (including bars that are friendly competition)
If bar owners want us to have a meeting at their bar,  they need to have a minimum of 10 girls.  I'm not dragging people to empty bars for favours.
Please help us invite other members, it takes a while to get momentum.
Monday 6 pm - 8pm  (then bar crawl after)

18th April - where angels play Soi 6

2nd May - (next bar we have open)
      9th May - Cooters bar soi 6
16th May - Hot shots bar Soi 6
23rd May - (next bar we have open)
      30th of May - Lust soi 6
      6th of June - Illuzion
13th of June - (next bar we have open)

I look forward to meeting people again.
