What are the pros and cons of buying older style condos v the resort style newer ones.

ie. Say View Talay 1 or 2  against maybe Atlantis or Amazon or something similar

Only lived in older ones but have visited quite a few of the jew resort style.

The obvious differences are in size, as the older condos tend to be bigger and in noise... Mainly due to thickness of walls.

Just my 2 satang worth anyway.

To add:

Older is Better:
Size
Materials used, especially wall and doors thicker
Location
Price per SQM
Lower Maintenance fees
Administration of the building is a known quantity

Newer is Better:
Contemporary design
Luxury
Facilities and services

Just another point I noticed with many of the odler style condos. The corridors are about twice the width of the new ones and usually open at each end of the floor. This is the case in my older condo and the corridors are always reasonably cool. The new building with small enclosed corridors were noticeably hotter.

On the flip side the newer condos have resort like common areas and facilities as well as nicer Looking building facade.

The older building often look like gaol blocks and the main common facilitity is a pool.

I’ve been internet browsing from the UK, I see 1 bedrooms in  Amazon Atlantis etc 36 sq metres  and 40 plus sq metres studios in View Talay Jomtien beach condos. We have a house up country, but looking for a seaside alternative when I have had enough. For those that live long term in Pattaya/Jomtien is it better to have the separate bedroom or does the condo size matter more

Seperate BR is a must otherwise you'll be living out of yer bed. A reasonable sized living space is also a must as that will be your recreational area. We have 2 condos in the Arcadia resort, both small but perfectly liveable in. 😎

You're here now where you should have been all along.

Everyone has their own choices.

For my part, I hate these new condos like Edge or The Base with a mini bedroom, a mini living room + a camper van kitchen.
Preference for style VT 5,6,7 and 8, large studio of 48 m2 .
