Saraburi - A well-known anti-drunk driving crusader was injured when his car was crashed into by a speeding car driven by a drunk driver, police said.

Doctor Thaejing Siriphanit and his wife, Phattharawadee Siriphanit, were injured in the accident in Saraburi's Muang district at 7:30 pm on Sunday.

Thaejing is the secretary-general of the Anti-Drunk Driving Foundation.

Thaejing told police that he was about to make a turn into his hosing estate and another car crashed into his car's rear. The impact caused his car to turn around.

Police said the second car was driven by Non Pongsawang, 33, who appeared drunk.

Thaejing and his wife were admitted to the Saraburi Provincial Hospital.

only in thailand???? well i can tell you that back home ( north carolina ) usa, a few years ago we had a man that was the state "czar" for drunk driving laws...he pushed the legal limit down from .10 to .08 and mandated other laws like checkpoints and tougher mandatory sentencing....and guess what it really worked, they caught him in one of his checkpoints one night legally drunk!!!!!!!!!! needless to say after his mandatory jail time he was looking for a new job.......lol

kind of the same in the UK. Except the police all club together and look after each other.

A few years back some low level plod nearly got chucked out the force because he caught the boss of his force speeding and refused to drop the case.

If your in the plod you could drink enough to kill a rugby team and drive at 120MPH through a school zone and all you'd get in a night in the cells to sober up.

A former Supreme Court judge in Australia consistently got speeding fines. Would contest the case & claim someone else was driving (driver usually out of the country) & would win. Unfortunately the last time he tried it the person he claimed was driving had been dead for 3 years.
