A few people have mentioned the PIMSLEUR language course, it is a good course, but if you're not fully alert and concentrating, it can be a bit full-on.

 

Here is a basic course that i have. If you want to learn basic words and phrases without having to concentrate too much, download this.

I've uploaded it to a site so you can download it. It is about 29 megabytes.( too big for email)

It is a self-extracting file, which means when you double-click on it, it will extract itself (de-compress) so you can use it on your computer.

 

There will also be a file called "Lessons in PDF format.pdf.". To view it you will need ADOBE ACROBAT READER. If you don't have it installed, go to this site to download it:

I am not a big fan of these courses. I think the best way is to just grab a book w/ audio cd.

Does anyone know if there is a written part that goes with the Pimsleur course?? Seems like that would help a lot.

Naja Tom: I purchased the Pimsleur course new and the only written part is actually a small booklet that helps you with the reading part of the course. Sorry bout that. Cheers T

Rosetta Stone courses are in my opinion the best.

 

I have been able to learn basic Thai, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese and beginning conversational French.

 

They are a little expensive and you need to use your computer, but I have found it is worth it.

yeah you definetely have to concentrate with Pimsleur's. I missed my exit on the way home today trying to learn

Pimsleur's is great if you use it with a book you can understand just what you're reading and have some idea of how it should sound.
