Good job, AJ. This is the kind of piece I really enjoy on TPN. 

Personally most excited about this

"We will probably finally see the afternoon 2-5 ban on alcohol sales go away. This has been proposed for ages and after recent legal extensions of nightlife hours is next on the list. We may even see later sales hours period, or earlier, for alcohol at shops."

Not so sure bout the 2-5 booze ban. I’ve always understood the “excuse” for it is to protect the school kids from seeing or interacting with drunks on the street until they are safely home from school. 
More Thai, Indian and Chinese tourism. Sadly no increase from the west unless longer visa wavers are on offer given the higher cost of traveling here now.

That's the story I got as well a long time ago. But anyone familiar with Thai society would know that this reasoning makes zero sense. If Thais wanna get drunk they can. That goes from Bangkok to any village in the arse end of Isaan.
