200,000 Baht’s worth of foreign currency and other items stolen from Englishman’s hotel Room in Soi Beokeow.

"In the early hours of Wednesday Morning, Police Lieutenant Colonel Chaleurmgiet from Pattaya Police Station was called to the Tina Sweet hotel in Soi Beokeow after a report of theft from one of the hotel rooms was reported. Police arrived and spoke with the occupant of the room, Mr. Samuel Kirk aged 63 from England who lives with his girlfriend, Khun Sawalak aged 29. She explained that the pair had gone out to Walking Street but Khun Sawalak returned first after the pair had a dispute during their night out. She returned to find her room had been ransacked and the room safe had been broken into to. Inside the safe was around 200,000 Baht’s worth of UK Currency, two Kasikornbank books and Mr. Kirk’s passport along with other personal documents which were all taken. There were no signs of forced entry into the room and Police believe the perpetrators had a key suggesting it could either be an “inside job” or a previous occupant of the room who had made a copy of the key. Police are now investigating further, as Mr. Kirk now counts the cost of his night out on Walking Street."

Sounds like she let her Thai boyfriend into the room to screw the safe over.

Always amazes me when someone keeps that much money in their hotel room. Drug dealer?

That why i always bring my flexible friends ( credits cards), safe and sound... I once brought 2 million bahts in cash, too much worry and hassle to count them daily... Credit Cards is the one who will do all the business for you, no carry cash, easy sleep without a worry,no need to have a safe, Etc....

Don't want this to come across like I'm "charlie big bananas" but I have had that sort of cash in my hotel room safe or in the hotels safety box in the past. I know it seems an awful lot of cash to have, but for some people who don't have credit cards or ATM cards it's their only way. (Travellers cheques are an option I know)

BTW I am not a drug dealer LOL,I'm just a plumber boy!! :001_Sawasdee:

Old news I know, but still feel sorry for the guy unless he is a 63 year old drug dealer!!

Obvious who's done this really. :)

ps: jocky king I would of shat myself carrying 2mills worth of baht mate, 2mills of Viet Dong no worries :P LOL

Cheers

I had some thing done to me like this but not as much, I had been with the Same girl 6 weeks , I never ever carry money on me , Have been all over Europe never lost anything , We had just come back from Phuket late one night i had 60,000baht on me because i did not want to take my card with me to Puhket. i had cash I went to my room with my girl, Had a bust up ,she stormed off, I got showerd and went out to look for her , Found her and went back to the room and went to bed, I got up the next morning and got showerd and dressed, Guess what the money had gone, The only person who knew i had money on me was the girl .I kicked myself for not putting the money in the safe in the lobby. I have learned My lesson , Now every thing goes in the Safe , Cards, Passport phone, Camera the lot. So take some advice trust only yourself. Seems like the same scam to me

I was talking with a guy looking for a room a few days ago who told me he had been staying in a room just along from our back door a few yards from the Continental Bakery, cant remember the name but has a Thai massage shop in ground floor room and a blue sign with rooms for rent.

Anyway he had stuff stolen from the room including a leather jacket he had bought here and made for him, he went to report it to the owners and when he went into the office he saw the bag that the coat had been in, when he asked about the bag the boy who was looking after the place hurried him out of the office and locked the door and said he would call the owners.

This guy wanted to call the Police but the lad said he would call the owners first, when the guy went back, the lad said owners come soon, next day he went to enquire again and got now where then he called the owners them selves who told him dont call police as police own the building and make him angry.

Needless to say he left and lost his stuff and deposit because he wanted to check out, he said but the deposit was for breakages and keys, the lad said no, for early check out.

I will post the name when I go look tomorrow.

Who would ever dream of going with a lady of the night in their own country and letting her know where you keep you valuables. I've had 5000 baht nicked off me by a girl I'd seen on two holidays, so I learnt the hard way. To some of these girls you must never forget that you only ever mean one thing to them, you are an easy touch. Only a fool puts himself in that situation more than once.
