spent a week there and loved the place , but know one told me about samui airport

before i went , this place is amazing 100% the best airport i have ever been through.

any bm have a better airport ? or a shitty one for that matter .

i took some photos last time but they are shite, only realised i should have taken more when i got home.

I agree it's by far the best airport I have ever been in! It was nice even before the recent revamp.

 

and the worst, tashkent in Uzbeckistan.

Class: Agreed, kinda like Kauai, but better. Bangkok Air built it so they have a virtual monopoly. I'd rather it was a shithole and they let Air Asia & Nok use it. A frigging $100 for a half hr flight. It makes a quick pop down to KS expensive. Sometimes I take AA to Surat Thani and the boat to KS. It saves about $70 and the ferry's a nice ride. wj

i have been to samai wice now and i have to agree with you it is the best airport in the world. you can see whats happening to your luggage when it arrives off the plane and the carosel is probably the smallest i have ever seen. Mind you looking at the Thai girls while you wait certainly makes the senery more impressive.

 

having said all that i find it a very efficient airport. On my last trip there they had my luggage and i never saw it again until Manchester. well impressed considering on the way out they lost my wifes case at Doha airport. considering we were on our honeymoon also she was not impressed however i soon took her shopping and she was happy again.

 

for those people who have not seen the airport it's worth a trip down to samui anyway just to look at the beaches. however it very quiet compared to pattaya.

 

Don't let commercialisation spoil this airport and keep it the way it is please.

only know (one???) bkk airport... don't like that one... when we flew home, there was a strange waiting place for the gates... it was kinda funny... i just hoped i was right and enjoyed the other people looking confused

I have been saying this to people..... free drinks and food while you are waiting, its unbelievable

I think the pictures posted above are from the old airport!?

Anyway here's some from the new one taken last year just after opening, still had some restruction going on.

I'll be back to Samui next week, so I'll take some more update pictures then!

I think it is the most beautiful airport in the world. I spent an overnight in Samui in December when the insurrectionist fuckers shut down BKK. It is beautiful and soothing to arrive at and to leave. You experience none of the stress that usually accompanies an airport experience. They have done a great job.

They've improved it a lot since 2000 ! It is amusing to see your baggage being collected by tractor.

 

I also remember Phuket airport as a giant centipede fell out of the roof! Everyone ran away except for one security guard who kicked it outside.

Gotta agree with you there! I grew up 10 minutes from Lihue Airport, and i have to say i feel right at home when i fly through Koh Samui.

Ko samui airport is beautiful! the mens toilets are amazing! love the fish tank.

Its a great little airport, even better now since the upgrade.

Free food, drink & internet. Also the departure lounges are really relaxing

& the toilets are so clean & modern.
