Both yellows and reds get paid to protest. The airport closure by the yellows had 500 baht a day for their rent a mob. I believe 500-1000 baht a day is common for the reds too.

 

The yellows are supported by the rich billionare business men of Bangkok and the Reds are provided for by thaksin.

If that is true, it doesn't say much for Thai democratic ideals. Getting paid to vote and getting paid to protest....
