OK fortune has smiled on me, I have a new job starting in June 09 and the settlement with my old job has come thru. I look like being lucky enough to get out to LOS this April/May after the events of late 2008 which cancelled my Dec 08 trip. Hooray

OUTWARD Tues Apr 21st RETURN Tues May 26th (cant go earlier cant stay later)

here after brief inspection are my flight options FOR MY DATES.. I live in the Midlands so Bham is the nearest geographically but getting to Bham or LHR from my small town either one involves either 2 bus journeys, or a taxi then 2-3 changes of trains/underground so I am only looking for advice relative to the FLIGHTS themselves, one carrier v another.

The fact is that I can't this time afford to be on my namesake 009 flight with BA (737.00) or afford the EVA direct (722) for my dates as above WHICH WOULD U PICK from these choices and why? Have always prior flown direct BA but cannot afford it this run. Lucky to be goin at all with the exchange rate as it is.

I need to decide ASAP but never used any of these carriers or stopovers before. Please RATE my options

1. Thai Air -DIRECT LHR@ 528.00 (old planes poor IFE? ) cheapest direct I can find.

2. Emirates - stop at Dubai, BHX@399.00

3. Malaysia - stop at KL [email protected]

4. Etihad -stop Abu Dha LHR@ 496.30

I am wavering towards Emirates on pure price obviously from BHX but would love to just go direct as ever but some say Thai is shabby these days inside planes and old and I am not sure worth the extra 128.00 for that.

You'll spend 2 hours getting to Heathrow and spend more money, so just change at Dubai...... cheaper and more relaxing than travelling to London, it's a no-brainer surely.

I try and go direct because i'm impatient and like to be moving forward at all times.

But with a price differance like that i'd just take the cheapest option.

You can spend the extra money shagging when you get to patts.

I have only been to LHR and it was a mess. Lots of traffic and just a pain, but as regards to airlines. I have flown Thai Airways and Emirates. I had a much better flight with Emirates. Better quality of service and overall nice flight. Plus Dubai is a nice Airport for a sneaky quick one.

Sub £400, would usually be an indirect flight.

Emirates have new aircraft , good IFE.

Spend the difference in price in Patts.

Would hopefully get you two or three LT with a showgirl.

Thai were using old planes back in 2007. We had to share one screen between 50 passengers. I flew Emirates back in 2008. Their IFE is unbeatable. I've also flown with Ethiad which were very good as well. The only problem is the short stop over, but you'll get cheap Duty Free. Plus you'll be saving money.

Thanks ALL -- seems Emirates is the way to go.... so I think I'll grab that now. Very happy that luck has changed again for the better as missing Dec was a pain. Now all I need to do is budget for the dreaded 50bt a pound level and still have a fun trip... thanks

I agree, Emirates is the way to go, or Air Malaysia as c close second.

I don't fly from England/Europe, but the flights from US-Japan-BKK can be horrendous. My point being is IMO direct is always the best way to go to cut down on travel time and possible fuck-ups when changing. That is unless you are getting a huge deal. Go direct.
