My Day Out at Parichat International Golf Links

Tuna Town

Recommended Posts

Played here in October

Green Fee 1200 baht

Caddy/Cart Included

Was playing in November but the price was raised to 1800 so some fandangling and changing the dates saved me 600baht

Had booked a tee time during the week  via Line and got me booked in for an 8:30am tee off

Arrived after a 30 minute drive from my Pattaya

I had heard bad things about this place and had repeatedly avoided booking it due to these stories about it . I ended up biting the bullet and booking just to get it over and done with and ticking it off the list

What can I say about this place. Everything that was said about was an understatement. This place is a cunt if a golf course that needs fucking bulldozing. The day it is closed down and turned into high rise condos can't come quick enough in my eyes

Tee off and around in about 3 hours as today not many other people were stupid enough to play the course like I was

First time playing here so was walking in blind

As for my golf game I play off 13 so was not happy with 93 off the stick around there.

Highlight of the round was high tailing it out of the car park at the end 555

I did start the day well with a regulation Par 5s on the 1st and the 5th and still couldn't buy a birdie putt. Well played hole good drives away good lay ups and good approach shots to find the green. Just couldn't one putt

Lowlight was the losing of 5 balls for the day.

First one on the 4th I will accept as I hit a tee shot 215m but just a little left of line and ended up finding a giant water hazard. I thought I was in a bit of strife when it came off the club so I wasn't surprised to not get the ball back.

But balls 2 to 5 FMD

I was in a good position when I got to the 14th hole

Getting close to using my 13 shots of my handicap up but a couple of pars on the last 5 holes and some bogeys and no big numbers could see me post a score close to my handicap

So on the 14th a par 3 over water I select a club and fire it at the green. Now I am happy with my shot. I got the weight right struck it well etc. Going roughly in the right direction. Unfortunately the wind gets hold of it and just drags it right. What looked a good shot onto the green turned into missing the green by under a metre taking a slope and rolling down the hill and into a water hazard. What was worse was I only found this out when I got to the back of the green in the cart and my caddie said I might be in the water.  Looking at where I would have landed I was pin high and got fucked over big time here

Two holes later on the 16th I note a water carry lay up in the distance off the tee. I get the laser out check my watch as well and get the distance. Then proceed to smack a driver 240m into the creek. Never hit a drive 240m in years and do it today. It ran and ran and ran.

So by about now I am starting to fume about things. My mood deteriorates further on the 17th when I lose one off the tee right big time. No issue as fairway over there. By the time we get to it can not find it anywhere. I have declared it lost so move on to provisional ball. Not long later a caddy for the group playing the hole I ended up on drives up to my caddy and offers up the ball. Apparently her golfers seen the ball on their fairway and just thought it was their lucky day so picked it up. Guilt got the better of them when they seen me looking for a ball.

I don't understand why people are that tight about golf balls they need to pick up any.loose ball not nailed down on the course. Unless you are 100% certain that you know no one owns that ball is playing now. Leave it the fuck alone isn't hard

So by now I am in a full on rage and I am starting to lose the plot

Get to the last and note a water carry lay up again. Laser out and check watch. I work out what club to hit that I think is safe then go back one. You guessed it. Ended up in the fucking creek again. FMD

By now my head is just ready to explode

Got in showered and got the fuck out of there feeling like the world was against me having thrown away a good score on the last 5 holes with some bad luck

As for today my Driving today was pretty good. Unfortunately this shitty golf course saw too many good tee shots run into water and fairway bunker's hampering scoring

My putting was also an issue with 34 putts for the round and I just never thought I could sink one on this course

Well let's just say one interesting feature of this place was the fancy outfits the caddies wear is a sight to see

As for this golf course I would say the place is gimmicky. The Par 6 12th is actually a Par 5 these days played to one of the tiniest greens you will ever see. There is just so much going on with this course the architect needs committing in an asylum

As far as I am concerned St Andrews Parichat and Silky Oak are just farcical golf courses around these parts. Yeah sure play them to tick the been there done that box. But they are gimmicky and not to be taken seriously

  • Thanks 2

Played it once. Same as you, I ended up in the creek across the fairway - after checking with the caddy that I had no chance of reaching it :)

A couple of holes had me scratching my head on the tee trying to work out where to put my drive as the fairway was on a left to right slope and could not lay up short.

Worst hole was one that was an uphill one with bare rock face.

I read your review with a smile on my face.

I played it once about 4 years ago. The worst designed golf course I have ever played.

Just terrible. Apparently designed by a Thai woman. She must hate falang men!!!

If you offered me 2000 baht to play it I would turn you down. Never again.

How this shit hole survives I don't know.

There are many good to great courses around Pattaya. There is no need to play this course. Not even for curiosity sake. Don't do it. If offered a game here just say no!!

Agree, worse course in Pattaya closely followed by Unhappy Valley, Silky Oaks and St Andrews.

Played Rolling Hills on Oct, and its difficult to get past the Siam courses and Laem Chabang at the top of the scale

The first time left me bewildered but the second time I was absolutely livid.

There was no logic to it at all

I am gonna give Pleasent Valley another run next trip. Ain't played it in 6 years but I don't recall it to be that bad.

Your right about the better courses but you may want to add Chee Chan to that list

Chee Chan is total class. Brilliant course and facilities are superb.

Siam and Chee Chan are the best courses in the area for sure. Not cheap by Thai standards but worth every penny.

I played a few holes with the owner some years ago, I believe it was just shortly after the course was opened. He told me they had saved over a million dollars by not employing a professional design firm. Instead he and his wife, a former top player in Thailand, designed the course by themselves. Now that’s the reason for the disaster I think.

Later he asked me „do you know my wife? She is a little bit fat“ 😂😂😂. Great guy, I liked him but lost his business card.
