I worked a shutdown at the GM plant in Flint, Michigan. One of the guys on my crew picked up a hooker and took her back to his room. At some point, he got thirsty and gave her some cash and the keys to his truck to make a beer run.

Well without seeing his I.D. and interviewing him, I obviously can't say for sure. However, the Pattaya News don't tend to refer to a farang as a 'Bangkok Man'. They would typically say "An Australian National living in Bangkok" or "A German tourist in Bangkok". Also, the name Jack is a particularly common westernisation of certain Thai names. I know at least 3 Thai men who go by the name "Jack". And finally, there is the photo of a Thai man sitting at the police counter. For some reason in LOS, there always seems to be a photographer on hand when an arrest or crime report is made and those photos often accompany the news story (albeit sometimes with fuzzed out faces). But Pattaya News rarely uses stock royalty photos in police station stories.

On the flip side, the only thing that might point to it being a tourist is the reference to the man's 'hotel'. But Thais often stay in hotels too, particularly when they are playing away, like Jack was obviously doing.

That will happen in Flint even if you don't get a hooker or give someone you keys.  It is called car-"Jacking".  They get your cash and the truck.
