Long stay travel insurance

I am planning 2 long trips a year to Pattaya going forward - each trip about 4 months.

Does anyone have any suggestions for long stay travel insurance that allowas that length of stay? ie maybe an annual policy allowing up to 8 months stay.

The policies I have looked at have a limit of 90 days per trip - not sure why

This would be travelling from the UK

Any ideas?

90 day per trip limit is quite common.

This time I got an annual policy with ACS bought through the Thai broker Arawan Namak (she’s on FB). The premium went up because I said trips could be over 90 days. It does not cover pre-existing conditions. I paid €511.20.

Inpatient treatment is paid direct, outpatient is reclaimed afterwards. I had to claim in my second week here (turns out I got Covid in my first few days in Pattaya - it’s bloody everywhere here!). Arawan told me what paperwork was needed, claim was done online. The money was in my bank account in about a week.

Thanks for this @davidgeSo am I right in thinking this can provide cover for up to 12 months away? I'm looking for a policy to cover me for a year whilst based in Thailand but will cover side trips to Vietnam, Cambodia, Japan etc. I will contact Arawan directly as well.

It’s not available to residents of Thailand so make sure you say you are U.K. resident. I don’t know if there’s a time limit on each trip but they ask in the quote process. It covers you everywhere except your home country and starts when you arrive in Thailand.

Edit: I had a look and it just asks if each trip is less or more than 3 months. You enter one destination but it says for multiple destinations you are covered and to just put one of them (the first makes most sense).

Maximum length of policy is 12 months.

Thanks @davidge, this is the most cost-effective policy I have seen to date, the vast majority of policies that have stays longer than 90 days become very expensive very quickly. I shall contact her and get it booked up.
