555.....Really funny world

That is what I keep thinking.

In what version of "Thats fucked up" would SHISHA be illegal, but mariguana LEGAL.

But I never knew anything about it - apparently it is substantially worse than cigarettes.

Shisha is the type of tobacco that is traditionally smoked in a hookah, made with chopped dry tobacco that is then combined with molasses and flavorings, creating a wet mixture.

Marijuana, on the other hand, is simply smoked as the ground flower of the female plant, yielding a dry mixture just like regular tobacco.

If we started a thread on ridiculous laws world wide it would run 1000 pages high.

BTW, smoking my vaper, my (recreational) joint is ready and negotiating BF with hottie while posting; all illegal in LOS but....who cares

It is a hazard to other customers, yes.  I've nearly been burnt by it in busy venues.

Doubt a major fire would start from it.

Mo-go-taas, jim-joom (cannot spell it)  seem dangerous too.   BBQ at table level.

We accept the risks, but wish the staff were more careful.

Possibly, but (to the best of my recollection), when the crackdown started on Shisha and Hookahs a few years (?) ago, they were mostly located OUTSIDE of bars on the street in the Soi Arab area.  Chairs lined the sidewalk in front of the shops.  Even on 2nd near the Arab area, pipes were in abundance.

I'm going to go on a limb here and say the ones that get the law applied to them would likely care, especially as they are going after Shisha again.

My bet is it's the tobacco monopoly. Much like vaping. Or the beer duopoly making the craft scene unviable.

You’re not the first to theorise it’s most likely the Thai owned tobacco monopoly that is against this but coming from someone who works within the industry, it’s usually the very vocal anti-tobacco groups that lobby government officials and agencies that are responsible for shutting down anytime type of expansion or change.

Be it LOS or any other country, supposed not for profit agencies continually lobby governments against the use of any type of nicotine based products, be they vapes, shisha or cigarettes. They are very well back financially and ultimately have ‘public health and safety’ on their side of their argument.
