Howdy - if you read the announcement you will have noted that we are moving the forum to another host. Hopefully this will give us more speed and reliability and more support for technical issues.

Note that from moving our sister sites, way smaller in size, we guess at least 24hrs to shift the databases. That is an estimate, if everything goes well, but it may take longer.

When we return can any issues you experience be posted here?

Wouldn’t it be best to resolve the Bangkok Addicts transition to new server(s) rather than attempting to move a much larger site (PA) that relies on the same software and database schemes?

For those who don’t follow BA, it’s been inoperable for a few days now pending completion of the move.

I’m not dissing the PA mods or techs. But as someone who maintains a lot of sites, I’ve found it worthwhile to start slow, prove out methodology on less complicated configurations before taking on the 500 kg gorilla.

Since Bangkok Addics made the transition I can't view any topics on that website. I'm logged in (not advanced) but when I click on a topic I always get the same message:

Sorry, there is a problem

I used to have multiple sites as well.  If they are on a monthly billing cycle, or worse a yearly billing cycle, they may have a hard stop 30 Nov.

BA was the first done and the issues were sorted eventually and should be live now. It was a PHP version that caused some plugins to fail. Still 1 or 2 minor issues but that is why we want ppl to let us know.

PA is the last to move due to it's kg - however the configs are very similar - size is the issue so the backend issues with BA will be the same and therefore known.

247 is one that was bought not too long ago and whilst PA didn't set it up it will have unusual consequences that PA are not aware of til it happened however that is now fixed and should be OK

yep, i can actually read content again on BA, i'd say after being down the last 5-7 days. 

all streams are still not working for me, but i assume you're aware of that ("unread content" and / or all the activity streams). 

they were working intermittendly the last few days, but currently they're down again for me. 

good luck with the move with PA, let's hope everything works and there aren't too many surprises waiting

yep 'unread contents and streams' are still an issue - a coder is working on that atm but seems not a biggy

A restart of MySQL was needed hence your issue - should be back soon

I remember the absolute agony of having migration issues.

I used to have websites that were mission critical for my 100s of franchisees.....

And I had a migration that went absolutely tits up.

I probably lost millions of dollars and 10s of years of my lifespan.

And I had paid $$$$$ big bucks for "professionals" to manage the migration.

So, hardware and software support, Mr. KGBagent, I salute you.

I'm so glad to no longer be the responsible one, the buck stops here, guy.

BA still not working as of Nov 23 2:18am Thai time.

Bangkok Addicts and Thailand 247 are both moved and online.  Some images might be missing and the emails not work til later today. But everything else should be ok.

The images are all on aws. We are moving them all to the server.  It's a slow process.
